Do people use BG3 mod manager, or Vortex?
Which is the best one to use? I want to use vortex but but I'm not sure I fully understand how to do it properly and even less informed on the BG3 manager.

The only mods I want is the more face options and more hair mod since they finally got updated from beta version to full. I'm more use to Vortex, but for some reason it feels a bit wonky to use and no mods I tried DL worked.

Ty. I kind of figured that was the case 'cuz it seemed a little less responsive and not as easy to use compared to those games.

Now I just gotta figure out how to do the BG3 manager I guess. That'll be a pain in the butt 'cuz I tried last the other night and got a lil confused. I'm sure with a bit more time I can get it working. I did use it for the beta year or two ago.

I haven't started using Vortex for BG3 yet so I can't say for sure that there are no issues, but I have used Vortex for many games over the years and have had no issues with it. Vortex is almost always easier than manually installing a mod and it keeps the mods separate from the game files (usually) so you can choose to run the game stock, with a few mods, or so modded up it looks like a different game. Vortex also (usually) catches mod conflicts and warns you about them.

none, i'm doing a vanilla playhthrough first.

Besides i don't want to risk breaking my saves just yet.

Yup! That's what I'm doing. I just want cosmetic mods to make a more personalized character. Nothing major like cheats or gameplay changes, just character looks. So far it doesn't seem like there's a ton of major changes, but the game is finally out and I can see a really dedicated modding community behind this so hopefully it continues to grow.

I linked the 3 mods I'm going to use and that'll link you to the nexus so you can see what all is there for yourself. Hopefully you find something good!

Dont even open up Vortex. All I did was open Vortex and it automatically downloaded a file that has made me unable to load into the main menu. Apparently it was a mod tool used in early access which automatically downloaded when it saw I had BG3 installed. Currently trying to fix the issue....

Yeah I had to go in and look up the problem with that.. Even after fully installing again it was giving me the error. I had to go into my appdata files to fully fix the issues with Vortex.

I asked this after doing all that, but I had no idea that was the reason. Thanks for the the clarification. Really does solidify that BG3 manager is the way.

I can't get any mod to work, no matter how hard I try. BG3ModManager imports the file, I drag it over to active, and then save load order. Jump into game and the mod isn't there.

Try changing the profile to Public in the drop down menu of the mod manager and export to there. The ea version allowed multiple profiles, the full version seems to use one public profile and the mod's .lsx file needs to be linked to it. None of the mods worked for me until I tried this.

Thanks I'll give it a shot

not sure if anyone needs to read this, but to use most mods you need the "Full release mod fixer" on nexus. i downloaded that, followed the instructions to manually install it, then downloaded the baldur's gate 3 mod manager from github and then downloaded and activated the mods with that and they work

I only use one mod so i didn't need it. That said i prefer to manually mod.

Don't use Vortex. I was talking to a couple of friends about using mods last night after I got off work (we all use Vortex) and it corrupted their BG3 game and save files. They had to reinstall and they lost their single player save files (I have our multiplayer one) and it was a nightmare to track down every file to delete it so the game would work right again

Has Vortex fixed this now?
