How to split party in couch coop?
Does anybody know how to split the party in couch coop so that every play has control of two characters? I can only split the complete party or add 3 characters to player one. Player two is somehow only able to controll his own character.

Im also having this problem. Playing with my spouse and really want to be able to split the party evenly. Can't seem to do it while playing split screen

I'm planning to do this with my partner so commenting so I can find this thread again when someone has, hopefully, answered it.

My solution with my girlfriend was to dismiss a companion back to the camp, and then have her be the one to invite them back into the adventuring party. It seems to me that whoever is the one to perform the invitation gets to 'control' that character.

Yah, you have to dismiss the party member you want them to control, then have them recruit them to the party. Not very intuitive imo when it could all be done right where you split and group the party.

Same issue here. I hope they fix it in future patches. GOing to the camp every time you want to split characters is a pain.

Can confirm we send to camp also

This is what has worked for me in multiplayer, though I haven't tried playing in splitscreen.

What's worked for me is essentially taking turns meeting them. My friend wanted Astarion, so she spoke to him at first meeting. I was player 2 and wanted Shadowheart following me, so I spoke to her first when it was time to get her. By being the first one to talk to them when they would start following you, you make it where they follow your character. Idk if it'll work for split screen, but it is worth a try.

how to split parties:
in multiplayer press start or esc whatever takes you to the options menu.

click on sessions

once in you will see all your characters and they will have little arrows, use the arrows to determine who is part of whose group.

I press escape and select "session" and assign from there.

Many thanks for the hint, that works for me!

This is how it is done. Works great and instantly, no need to use the camp,

To everyone talking about the "session menu", that menu seems to be gone in local split-screen co-op mode. This works not in local co-op with controller only.

It works now. They must have fixed it. Sessions menu is there now playing with two controllers.
