I also recommend to enter the gnoll ambush cave from the front, do not use the backdoor tunnel. You might miss an interesting conversation with the goll leader.
Now that the hideout is friendly...I want to get rid of them because I want to loot the two locked rooms. No chance to sneak in. May wait for now, pretty sure the group will be important later.
No info to not open it? The dude in the caravan + a note found there tells you it cannot be opened or else it's worthless. Are you kidding?

Use illusion change race spell, then use talk to the dead, ask them about the cargo, they said not to open it, dangerous inside, uuhhh.....whoops.
Dead told me the location of hideout. Also got password from guys when they were alive talking to me.
Go to hideout location. Everything on fire. Saved important lady. Searched place for hideout, fought a cow, and finally found hideout. gave password, got inside, gave password again, they disabled traps and let me in.
Convince trader to give me the slave for free. Slave said he will repay me in city. nice.
talk to hideout boss lady, she ask why im here, told her im here to drop off cargo, since other guys are dead. they are happy about this. I gave them the cargo, boss lady no longer happy.
her:"YOU OPENED THE CARGO!?" me: "uuhh, yea" her:"YOUVE KILLED US ALL! GUARDS!! ATTACK!!"
combat starts, so yea, they are all dead now. Guess I got a glowing flask now.
Failing to deliver the chest unonpened will cause you to loose access to multiple good blue items including a bow that scales with str and a medium chest piece for the lightning set.
That is not quite correct, in my experience:
- I saved the 2 guys, let them have their chest and they told me the password.
- Then I stole the chest (but was too nosy, so I opened it).
- In the hideout they were all cool with me and thanked me for saving the guys (although they beat/killed them because they did lose the chest).
- I did not say anything about the flask.
- And this gave me a bit gold from Zarys & gave me access to the trader's special items. ...I might have robbed him blind (well, all items) but they still liked me.
The other guys in the 2nd part of the cave were however just aggro on me, so I killed them (had to, of course), however after visiting the "other connected place" & returning they were still friendly with me. Quest also says "Pleased, Zarys rewarded us for defending her agents. We kept quiet about the shipment."... so they are pleased!But! - now I returned again and they are all aggro, no matter what (put all summons away). This seems indeed buggy (or they really miss their stupid crate and went mad).
The person you're quoting said "There was info not to open it", but also,
that's not what he said. He didn't say it'd be worthless if you opened it. He said he couldn't open it, so don't bother trying. But I could open it. So why wouldn't I?
