"Ironman"/"Hardcore" mode?
I am insanely confused by the system with the save / load abuse.
On the one hand, I understand that here everyone decides for himself whether to use this system or not. But the temptation is too great.
We need a system that removes this abuse as much as possible.

A sort of "iron man" mode, with permanent or near-permanent death. Which will force you to take random dice and carry this load on yourself until the end of the game. But for this you get an achievement and you can brag about it.

Yes, the whole point is precisely in the ability to prove that you have completed the game "honestly" and without constant saving / loading abuse.

I dont think honour mode would work well in the system, where one bad dice roll could wipe out your party,
even iron man can be abused. if you copy and backup your save file

I assume it will be included before long, the devs have a history of adding options post launch, but what I want is a bronzeman mode, one where I have to accept the outcome of a roll during conversations but have the option to restart fights again if things go wrong

I suspect it will become a reality eventually. The game needs it. Tactician difficulty is not that difficult if you know what you're doing.
I'd like it to be so that not only you're limited in save game situation, but also in Ironman/Hardcore they will not allow for Downed status and death saving throws - if you reach below 0, you die.

If they let the party actually make skill checks that they are good at in forced cutscenes it might be more tolerable. as it stands since the Cleric standing next to you cant make the Medicine check that is asked during a forced dialogue option the reload meta is apparently the way to go.

Theoretically, if the saves are stored on the Larian servers, they will not be able to be backed up. Save Conflict = Mandatory overwrite on what's on the servers. Either the "hardcore mod" flies from the save and becomes normal.
Yes, a hardcore mod will require a permanent internet connection, but in today's world this is hardly a big problem (hello POE or Diablo)

It's a single player game. Devs cannot stop cheating, even with an Ironman mode.

Just do it yourself as personnal challenge. Nobody cares about a steam achivements which could be "stolen" easily.

Agreed that is an issue. It really surprised me they haven't thought of that, given that you're able to switch characters during dialogue.
The Pathfinder games have this implemented and it works well.

but I dont think larian wants to damage their reputation with something stupid like requiered internet connection

about the save file thing people have mentioned -- I defer again to the Pathfinder games example. Last Azlanti mode (name of ironman mode) lets you have a single save file and when your main character dies, the game deletes the file. It doesn't require an internet connection...

And I don't think that people who want an Ironman mode care about achievements. That's not the point of it. If you want to challenge yourself and see if you can rise up to that challenge, that's the fun you get out of it. Not some badge on Steam, lol.

i would say a game like this is meant to be playedwith quicksave in mind. so i wouldnt call it abuse, i would call it the correct way to play :p.
Don't really care, but sure.

Achievements are for tryhards.

Nobody is getting through this game on Iron Man in their first play through. Too many surprises that will wipe the party if you don't know what's coming.

The game should probably have it as a feature, though. But I suspect it will still lead to save scumming. People will just alt f4 everytime something bad happens.

It sounds like the problem is located between your chair and your keyboard.

people savescum even if they want a challenge. most people dont have the discipline to not reload a encounter if things start to go terrible. its much better if they add game systems that enforces the rules. either they should do that or add a difficulty thats drastically harder than tactican mode.

even if a ironman mode is to extreme, its possible with other options that sends you back like a hour or two to encourage good play and careful thinking.
there is a middleground between roguelike or ironman and being able to save and load as much as you want.

I would love a Hardcore mode that makes you roll a new character if you die, might not exactly be story friendly bu tit would be a cool mode. Same with regular Ironman.
