way too much clutter
Does anyone else find the amount of useless everyday items (plates, mugs etc.) the game throws at you aggravating?
I hoped they would dial it back compared to the DoS games, but instead it they even ramped it up. In every room there is like a 100 containers, which might have something useful, but mostly its useless junk, only cluttering my inventory, and being a huge hassle to sell. Especially since the inventory system is straight out of hell.
The Pathfinder games did a way better job at this, with only a couple of highlightable containers per scene.
Here you basically have to scan the screen with your cursor like in some 90ies point and click adventure.
I am estimating around 10% of playtime is spent solely on looting and inventory management, which would amount to well over 10 hours for a completionist playthrough, thats a ridiculous amount of time.

Don't pick it up

As a helpful tip, alt brings up names for everything important worth looting - chests, backpacks, equipment, books, etc. Just pick that stuff up, it's really a waste of time to steal plates.

Unless you want to lol

This isn't accurate. You can find potions, scrolls and money in non-marked containers. Also camp supplies. You don't have to take these things but you will miss out on them if you aren't more careful. There is no external marker that says where the "good stuff" is.

Yeah it is pretty insane, definitely worse than DOS2 in terms of sheer quantity

Why isn't there a 'sell junk' option?

Yes its annoying. Its because you have unlimited storage space. In D&D games you dont go around collecting every weapon you find to sell later. Its all about treasure. They have missed the mark with this. Its the same with every single rpg out there though. Why???? I thought this game was going to be fresh and new. Its not very different. Other than all the bloody flirting.

No, nobody is forcing you to pick it up. You always need your hand held or just in this game?

You are forced to to so, if you play with min-maxing in mind, which I usually do in these games.
This is not about hand-holding either, it is about the game respecting my time.
As someone else pointed out, the clutter being there draws an amount of attention, even if you ignore it in the end.

I like that the merchants have limited amounts of gold. It's just realistic.

Half of that time could be saved when the "Wares" system would just remember, what was already taged as "Wares". So next time I don't have to mark it again. When I first used it, I was like 100% sure, that it is working like this, until I picked up another "mug" or whatever, that wasn't tagged. There should be another pane for tagged wares, so if something needs to be "un-tagged" it is simple done there.

I have no idea how this could come out of EA in this form.

Sure, that's funny and all, but why aren't you just throwing the goblins at each other?

That's what goblins are for.

there is!
mark items as wares,

"sell all wares" button is there.
