Fireball radius tiny?
I've just got Fireball. I remember it having a quite large radius but it seems tiny, just enough for fit 2 human sized enemies. Am I missing something, maybe the radius increases at higher levels?

Fireball definitely fits more than 2 mobs.......and its visible radius is a quite big circle.

Check if maybe you are mistakengly casting something like Dagger vortex (its radius is way smaller)

My fireballs seem fine, not sure what´s up with yours.

My fireball seems to have a pretty big radius. I usually get at least 3 or 4 enemies in one hit

Fireball range is pretty accurate to the material, you can get 3/4 enemies in it. Just remember you don't have to cast fireball on a person, you can cast it against the ground to better place the radius to get more people.

And NPCs with ranged attacks try not to stay close together, making them less attractive fireball targets.
The fight in the smithy was crazy, with explosive bolts throwing my party around like potatoes. And it was impossible to catch more than 2 in a fireball. The meazels were also so positioned before the ambush that you could not fit more than two of the four into it.

When you come across the illithid bombs that suck people closer, keep them and use them when you want a bunch of targets next to each other.

Baldur's Gate 3's Fireball has a 6m (20-foot) radius, exactly the same as in every edition of tabletop D&D for the past 30 years.

The difference may be that BG3 tends to have a lot of wide-open areas, even indoors and underground, whereas DMs in tabletop games often design much tighter spaces, especially when using a battle mat with limited area.

That means your enemies in BG3 are usually much more spread out than you are used to in a tabletop game, so your AoE spells are going to have a harder time catching as many of them in a convenient bundle. (What one of my favorite DMs used to call "grenade formation.")

Thanks for your replies. It's weird, I just remember playing BG2 and the radius seemed way larger. But maybe it's like Meanwhile said, it's more of a perspective thing / more open areas etc.

BG3 Fireball has 10-foot radius(3m ish). It's very disappointing. That makes it A LOT smaller then it should be. The guy up here must be mixing up radius and diameter...

Same as for Spirit Guardians. BG3 just doesn't care about a lot of 5e rules. It is a mess.
