This is the answer.
Usually when you want to multiclass, your lv1 class should be the one with the better proficiencies to get the better choices.
Rogue Details:
Proficiencies:
Weapons:
Simple Weapons, Hand Crossbow, Longswords, Rapiers, Shortswords
Armour: Light Armour
So you multiclass from a Rogue to a sorc you will have it but not the other way around I guess or?
The above answer is not the answer, because Rogues ARE proficient with Short Swords. So one of my classes IS proficient. It's just that the game decides you don't get proficiencies from your second class.

Unfortunately the multi-classing proficiency in the 5E PHB aren't listed under the classes, but you can find them.

I haven't checked in BG3 to see where/if it confirms this difference.
So like I thought problem is going sorc first for only 1 level and then rogue?
multiclass prof.
Rogue Light armor, one skill from the class's skill list, thieves' tools
