Shadowlands suck
And I dont mean the mechanic. The mechanic is actually a temporary obstacle that is interesting (if tedious) to play around.

It sucks because of the "Isobel" thing.
Everything points you at her. It's the second thing the main contact NPC in the area tells you to do (after talking to her).

And doing that task triggers a fight, that can invalidate sidequests, kill almost all NPCs in the Area, and ist extremely hard stacked against you by value of being an out-of-dialogue ambush. Dude just goes "yep, 120HP, 40 Temp HP, healing with a damaging AoE Attack, what you gonna do crybaby" and the fight isnt even lost by dying, just by the NPC dying.

And the worst is, that there isnt even much to do in terms of sidequests, because most of those are locked behind the "worse" Shadow Curse thing.

Thaniel? got to the House of Healing int he Dark Area, Selunite Resistance? Masonry Guild. Find the Ledger for the Shadar Kai Dude? The Distillery is in the Dark area.

And when you try to leave the Last Light Inn to do the Ambush on the cultists? They go "NO, get Isobels spell first!" and when you do and fail the fight? "Oopsie all those NPCs are Shadows now, go kill them buddy.

I feel like they designed this effect, then realized "Oh some players will probably be annoyed by this" so then went "Let us give them an option to get rid of this, so they wont be that annoyed" and then got angry about the idea, that everyone is gonna do that, and is gonna avoid their cool "be in light like 24/7" mechanic, so they decided that trying to get that buff will trigger a fight, that if lost kills all the NPCs, How dare players go where you tell them to go, to avoid a mechanic you intentionally made kinda tedious to play around.

Agreed - except for the Gauntlet of Shar the rest of the map feels tedious. The best part was the initial combat with the shadows, Isobel but it should never force you to wipe out all the NPcs. That was brutal … I also feel like this area I just wanted to get the hell out of there.
OP was banned for what?

You can save isobel by focusing on marcus during the fight having shadowheart in your party you can focus her on healing isobel, the mobs that spawn are killed by the npcs mostly, usually only one or two will actually come in the room to fight your party/isobel[/spoiler[
Theres actually a fair bit of quests in Shadowlands as well once you get the moonlight lantern.
