How to level up manually?
Hello.
It might be a dumb question, because judging by the google searches there are not many people who have the same problem as me. Those few who had, seem to not find the answer, or people responding couldn't understand the problem really.

I have never played Tabletop RPG live, but I have thousands of hours of experience in DnD video games such as Neverwinter Nights and previous Baldur's Gate.

So, I hit the lvl 2 and when I click on the level up the game just proposes ready sheet of new actions, class features and additional health increase and I can't change anything on the level up screen.

What am I doing wrong?

Sometimes it is just that. Nothing you can select from aside of multiclass.

You always lvl up manually. If there is something to choose from. In DnD5e there aren't many options outside of choosing subclass and spells. I mean, there are, but not nearly as much as in 3.5e

You can change things on the level up screen. It's all there for you to do.

Just depends on the class. Sometimes they just get a new thing and that's it. If you want to change your choices of what they do get though, check the top left of the screen. There are a series of buttons you can click with the different options that class might have got.

Different classes get different things at different levels.

5e is *very* simple.
You most likely had 0 choices to make at level 2. You did it manually. congratulations.
Some leavels just give you some predefined things, like more HP or a set class feature.
If you wanna multiclass there's a button in the top right of your level up info window.

The big choices are mostly if you're a caster that has to pick new spells or at lv 4, 8 and 12 when you get to pick an Ability Score Increase (ASI) or a "feat".

Yes, there was multiclass option and that was it (for clarification, my char is a Monk)

Thank you ALL for the replies. Seems like I'll still have to get used to 5e, though I considered myself veteran cRPGer :D

Again, thanks all

When you have options, there will be a check list on the left hand side of the screen for all choices. They'll be pre-chosen, but you can go into any of them and change them.

If you like to test around, to get a feeling early for such, I like to recommend the D&D Beyond app which works with a simple Google Login. The character creator there works almost identical with the character creator for BG3. You can simulate level ups with that and see at which level which class get something and whatso not. It is a bit of a round about way, but way more comfortable than reading the Player Handbook and taking endless notes on pen&paper. ;)

Make sure to read all the replies. With your issue the way you described it I really feel you're missing the level up checklist in the top left that happens each time you level up.

Always look the left side of the screen. There is same chose your things like in character creation. Sometimes there are options, sometimes the are not, but it is good practice to click those icons in the left. 3 level is quite common place where you often chose sub class.

Believe it or not, this game gives sometimes more Level Up Options then the ttrpg
If I wouldn't have such a good opinion of Larian I would have completely ditched the Game

Thanks for reply.
No, I looked at the left and it seems that for the monk there's nothing else, at least when it's 1st to 2nd level up
