Waukeen's rest bug
I got to the Waukeen's rest inn. There is no door but 3 NPCs are trying to break it open. I try talking to them but nothing happens. I just walk in to find the counsellor Florrick already dead. I tried reloading multiple saves but nothing changes. Has anyone had this or know how to fix it?

I had this exact same bug. Did you ever find a solution?

I also have this bug. No door, can't talk to the people trying to open the door, and the people requiring saving are already dead. I tried reloading to before I entered the area and rushed over, but exactly the same.

happened to me a bunch of times in EA. once you load the place you gotta do it then and there or the fire spreads and things happen. didnt find any solution except clearing it asap as soon as i get even close to it.

You don't understand what we are encountering. It's not that we didn't get there fast enough - I have tried rushing there immediately - it didn't work. It's clearly bugged because there is no door - but the NPC's are trying to lift the non-existent door - and we are unable to talk to them. The NPC's we need to rescue are already dead - even if we rush directly there from the beginning.

They're probably saying you got too closed to Waukeen's Rest and it triggered all these things even without you going in.
Which is what happened to me I think. Or it's on a global timer, so and so many long rests and they're all dead already.

definitely not global, i had what felt like 30 long rests under my belt when i arrived

I've never gone in through that front door first, i think this is what triggers the fire spreading.

To rescue the counsellor I always go through the building on the right by pushing the enormous barrel out of the way, then use the boxes inside to get me up to the next floor. You can then either break down the counsellor's door (strength check) or pick the lock.

But of course, if you think she's already long dead before you try anything then it is definitely a bug.

I reloaded a save from before I first even approached the closed gate outside of the inn and went through right away and it worked fine.
I am becoming really sure that when my character said "smoke?" when I got close that the timer started for the fire to spread and the quest NPCs to die and the gate to be destroyed and so on.
Or it got bugged and I reloaded from a save from before that but I prefer to think I had gottent oo close before lol.

Time to spend half an hour redoing all the things I had done after approaching the gate for the first time...

weird, cause I did loot the entire place first slowly as ever. Then found a dude stuck under a piece of the roof and I failed roll on 3 characters, then I tried the 4th time with kahlag and she just flings the thing like it's nothing, making the whole situation even more hilarious.
Then I burned myself cause the stupid party
(and omg the path tracing of wolf companion is the worst of all videogames ever!, makes me want to end midgame and start all over again just to play a character that not use followers at all) follows through the fire and burn themself to near death.

EVEN SKYRIM HAVE BETTER PATH TRACING ON STUPID FOLLOWERS:

THERE I SAID IT!

Then I failed the roll at the maindoor.
Took me a while to figure out how to get inside, without my stupid followers burn themself to a crisp. (very tedious, just as the hag lair where party members random walk over traps WHILE YOU ARE ROLLING DICE OMG)
and then finally I found some woman who was not the name they said at front door.
So I burned myself an entire hour, casting water and what not to put out fire and find the dude.
Then I got fed up with it and went back to the courtyard and then she talk to me and the quest is complete.

I been playing over 100 hours, only doing act 1 so far, but the more things I try out, the more bugs I find. and graphical artifacts (white square flickering near kahlag tent for example) or a badass looking helm that not fit head and just floats as soon you start moving.

I done bg 1 and 2 this summer to get into it all again, but I could just skipped it as well, cause it feels like a remake of dragon age origins tbh, not bg
Still good game, but lot of things are weird or just randomly happening (npc talking to someone else instead of me, while I made sure I selected myself before I start chat, also makes things annoying cause you need to reload the conversations a lot)

but to get back to you, cause I'm going down a rabbithole, it should not happen to you if I can take all time in the world and then find her by accident alive and well.
