Thanks. That is indeed some important information!
If you want to do multiplayer, then create a separate game for MP. Works fine, and you don't ♥♥♥♥ up your personal game.
This is pretty sad, I helped my Cousin out, only to find out that i've messed up the "original" sense of her single player game because i joined. luckily i didn't pick an origin character.
I'm disappointed to find out that Larian couldn't bother to have a dismiss option and have that character be dismissed to Withers with a sort of "tag" so that if one wanted to join again one could and the cost would only be 100 gold not an entire save file. currently my cousin has started a new game same character :/
1. Traveled with all characters back to camp (could not dismiss PCs)
2. Exited and reloaded game after all other players left the game (Still could not dismiss PCs)
3. In game settings, unchecked the "Direct Connection" box. (Still could not dismiss PCs)
4. Completed a long rest at camp. (All PCs could now be spoken to and dismissed successfully)
NOTE: Once you dismiss a player created character, you will need to speak to Withers in your camp if you want to have that character rejoin your party in the future.
