Why isn't Shar one of the deities a cleric can choose?
title states it all.

Because it's shar.
It's a forbidden goddess and very difficult to roleplay unless the story revolves around it.

Adding it to the pool wouldn't make sense.

I beg to differ. It's still a goddess and still has worshippers. In a game where you can play evil or good, how it makes sense to remove her from options?

Probably because part of the story is about that. They would have to make a lot of new dialoge with Shadowheart and some quests if you are a Shar cleric.
There are more deities missing as well, probably because of lore reasons/time to implement.

Might have to do a cleric of Selune just to see how my companion reacts. Or maybe a paladin of Selune. Could be fun.

they already HAD the dialogue with SH in EA when Shar was an option.

EDIT: I daresay it would be extremely difficult to be a cleric of Tiamat after Tyranny of Dragons then to be a cleric of Shar. The game IS following the campaign books ffor its timeline.

Yeah, for the earlygame. There´s a lot of possible dialogue that needs to be considered in the moonrise area and possibly in the adamantine forge area.
I bet they just didnt have the time to get it done for the early release.

Yet they have Tiamat as an option, aafter Tyranny of Dragons and rise of Tiamat. I daresay you would be hard pressed to find a cleric of THAT deity after the fallout of that campaign, and yes, the game is following the campaign book timeline.
