That's how it works yes, though I have no idea what jack of all trades - the bard ability - has to do with anything here.
You multiclass at Wither the same way you would leveling up normal. Respec, pick your first class at level 1, and then at level 2 (or whatever level after) you click the class button and pick a different one. That's it.
He resets you to level 1, so just pick a class there and then go though the usual level up screens where you can pick multiclasses as appropriate
