The main difference is that I used the pods in the room. The explosion actually missed the squid and only hurt the demon strangely enough. Shadow healed and buffed the squid while everyone else hit .Us, the little brain, would land 3 damage more consistently than my characters. As ranger I sniped the second wave of enemies and ran for the controls. By turn 9 or 8 we had him dead and the new demon approached. I grabbed sword with gith and transferred to my character.
I think the main problem is that the commander has high Dex and Con, meaning saving throws are almost nothing to him, resistances to everything, and mammoth health. I'm impressed you killed the second wave. If I'm feeling lucky might try that too on Barb run.
Depending upon the rolls the squid gets you might have to save scum but you have 15 turns so I think if you just wait and see what happens you really don't need to.
0.1% have escaped the ship is 100% not true cause thats that damn tutorial
Playing as Shadowheart, along with at least two other casters with access to the Command spell, you can...
Command Zhalk to drop his sword, then pick it up.
Buff the Mindflayer with Protection From Evil and Good and also Shield of Faith.
When tbe other two cambions appear, Command them to drop their weapons as well and then retrieve them.
Let the Mindflayer deal the majority of the damage, but be rdy to cap all opponents with tbe final blow, including the Mindflayer.
The Potion of Speed idea is cool, I hadn't thought of that!
