Are you min-maxing or roleplaying?

I normally go for a min-max but for some reason this game has me all out of my comfort zone for my play-through. I'm (borderline) role-playing this time around; I'm not save scumming, I'm playing a class I would normally not have chosen, I'm picking choices that go with the style and background of the character I made, not necessarily what would be the "best" choice, so to speak and I'm surprisingly having a blast.

Every failure I don't save scum I just look at as another play-through potential.

Same here. I'm taking characters from tabletop and rp'ing them. Metagaming it would just make it one and done. Only loading a save if party wipe.

I am roleplaying my character and sticking with the choices i make but i am min-maxing my class in terms of stats, class dips, spells, skills etc. That's how i usually like to play my RPGs

Id be playing a game with a REAL ruleset like Wrath of the Righteous if I wanted to min-max... lets just say im doing the best a very limited and streamlined 5e permit.

Same but only because I consistently forget to save. It's pretty obvious when a big fight is coming so I don't forget then. That's been my play style for decades now. My wife is usually the one to remind me to save when I'm wrapped up in a game but she's not playing this one.

I've only reloaded save maybe three times so far and I'm into Act 2 now. I do like letting things play out but there are a few extreme cases of "that's not how I want this to go". The game will pretty much let you do anything, which is a testament and occasionally a problem :)

I've already made some mistakes, some that required a reload because of either not understanding the mechanics yet or some INSANE dialogue choices, but I am rolling with the rest of my goofs for now as I think in a lot of choices there are no true "right" choices.

I think this game could really use an ironman or hardcore mode where saves are automatic only and you must live with the choices. Like what Stellaris or CK3 has.

A large part if the enjoyment in these games for me is the combat, so I build all my characters with something specific in mind. I want to learn and explore and master combat.

But besides that I like to just roleplay my characters through everything and let whatever happens happen.
