Killing Kagha, is this supposed to happen?

I get the request from the Tiefling leader to "take care of" Kagha, then I go and ask around and find out that even a few of her fellow Druids don't like her and wish she wouldn't send the refugees out into the wild.

BUT,
When I go to her and try to talk some sense into her and TRY to resolve this all I get are two decisions, one of them telling her that the Teifling chief wants her gone, BUT when I take her out, EVERYONE in the grove ends up dead??

Is THIS the only outcome? This just doesn't seem right, I mean, ALL of the druids turn hostile and NONE of the refugees survive the fight?

I don't know man, I'm going to reload and see what saving Halsin first does to this quest, but this just doesn't seem right.

Without telling me everything, can anyone tell me if there is any other way to do this? I didn't try to steal the idol because that just seems wrong. But Kagha, taking her out seems like the right thing to do here, for everyone.

If you go into the "servants quarters" in the Druid enclave, you'll find Kagha's chest hidden behind a wall. Open it and you find instructions for a meeting place. If you go there you'll find proof she's a Shadow Druid. Take it and confront her and you'll be able to take her out without destroying the whole grove.

Have you been to the Blighted Swamp?
There is a shadow druid sect note in the blighted swamp tree stump where you find the Wood Woads. Revealing the Shadow Druid plan.
You find this out by nosing around Kaghas letters, opening up the Shadow druid dialogs

Hmm, when I first met her she was about to send some kid to prison, I resolved that situation and just told her to calm the f down basically. After that I found/freed Halsin and thats basically it. Not sure why your situation is so different. Goes to show how different playthroughs can be.

It's surrounding the rite of thorns that Kagha is doing if you investigate into it

Oh man, thank you, I just got done resting after that fight and it just felt like something is wrong, I know I did this in early access a couple of years ago and it turned out much better, but I don't remember how I did it, my memory isn't what it used to be.

I searched the quarters once, but I guess I need to look a bit further into it. haven't been to the swamp yet, it just felt like I needed to act fast to save the refugees.
