Memory leak?
I've noticed something odd. I can play for an hourish no problems at all FPS buttery smooth, but then the game starts skipping and chugging.

is there a memory leak in BG3?

I've been experiencing the same thing. And as I get further into the game, it happens faster from the time I start playing.

No mem leak, but as you play, and the game keeps caching textures, it will use up more RAM. PRetty much anyone with 16GB of RAM will stutter after a few hours of play. This doesn't happen on 32GB systems.

If you have 16GB, and a SSD, it will greatly minimize this issue as windows can page to and from the SSD quickly, and the game can load textures quickly.

Do you use DLSS? If yes, DLSS tends to get leaky over time as it builds up its AI model. If you can without a performance hit, disable DLSS.

Same counts for AMD FSR.

I have 32GB of system RAM, and it happens, so... don't exactly believe its limited to 16GB

Yeah nah, atleast on dx11 it absolutely does leak memory
i havent tried much on vulcan as i get some weird artefacting during dialoq on it, but for me the game over doubles the memory use over time
that's plain old memory leak.

Yeah same after an hour or so ish game gets sluggish. Its annoying. Might give vulcan a try and see if that helps.

I'm on RTX 4080, Ryzen 9 5900x, 32GB Ram.

While you're not wrong, the game doesn't seem to be getting rid of cached things when they're no longer needed. In that way, it is a memory leak.

I'm part of the 32gb of ram club too and after an hour or two the game stutters fiercely.

Not seen this happening using Vulkan.

Haven't seen it lately, but I definitely experienced it when I first started playing. I have no idea what changed.

I only have 16gb of ram, but do have a NVME M2 SSD. And have no stuttering at all.

I played it for about 10 hours straight and it started to get choppy on a 32gb system, started at about 12gbs and was using just over 20gbs at the time on direct x.

Really good topic. I think you guys have helped me solve my problem. I have 16GB. Been playing a lot. But today I played 4hrs pausing now and then but not turning the game off. My game wasn't choppy I don't think, but my save was corrupted.

I'll try restarting the game every few hrs. Lot more saves.
