Is it worth buying scrolls to learn spells?

I am playing a custom wizard and just arrived at Druidgrove. At the moment lvl 3. I am eager to add some spells, but I am not sure whether the (high) gold price is worth it - notwithstanding you have to pay 25/50 additionally to learn the spell. Moreover, the inventory of the merchant is limited and seems to change constantly if you level up or after a long rest from my understanding, so it is difficult to plan ahead to buy spells you have in mind as you progress in the game.

Is gold and / or scroll drops plentiful or not throughout the game..? Should I buy scrolls to expand my spell inventory?
