Speed Up Combat Option
This is really needed especially since it is full turn-based now compared to previous games. Love the game, having a good time, but it's a bit painful having to wait for every single enemy to move before I can get back in the action. Game has too much downtime like that. Leveling up and camping / resting are other things I wish I could speed up. Gotta wait for everyone to load up, etc every time I level one up. Takes longer than it should. Anyway, I really hope they address the combat speed, at least. Kind of weird it's not an option.

Yeah but it is not uncommon for turns based games to have an option that moves everything really fast and get rid of all unnecessary
animations.
For example one unnecessary animation is the dice roll when picking locks etc.

No worries, both faster move speed in and outside of combat was one of the first things modded in for DOS games.

Look on nexus mods from time to time

the point of the dice rolling animation is for there to be failure. you have to choose to fail. most gamers never want to fail, ever, and will download aimbots and hacks to make sure they always win. many gamers in single players will always reload their save every single time they fail at something or it does not go the exact way they want stuff to go. i think baldurs gate 3 wants you to accept failure when you fail to roll an unlock on a box or when you fail in a dialogue scene and the quest plays out differently from what you have planned. maybe you dont have to unlock every single locked item you see, if you rolled and fail just move on, the animation hardly takes any time unless you are rolling it 5 times because you keep reloading your save.

I mean that all the small animations included in that segment are not needed. Just show me the number and then let me coninute to the next part without a small animation.

You can actually left-click on the dice after you click Roll, and it will fast forward to the result. Found that out by accident :)

What are you 5? Most turn based RPGs (which also happen to be JRPGs) come with x2 and x4 speed for turn based and they have for over a decade now. It's not about action it's about not wasting time on watching a character cast dash and walk across the map. It's not like there's even crazy walk cycles to look at it's just a standard "move to position." The game loses nothing by allowing players to speed it up and the player stands to gain their most important commodity: TIME.

OP buys a D&D game and then is surprised when it plays like . . . a D&D game.

Says the guy who clearly hasn't played any other D&D game that has come out in the last 20+ years.

OP has a valid point here. In fact, in the actual D&D game – I mean TRPG D&D – there are no animations to wait for. Animations are what's added to computerized versions of D&D to please players' eyes. Obviously, this added feature has an opposite effect to OP.

Old HoMM series have animation speed control out of the box, and they are fully turn based games. Animation speed control is not uncommon in turn based games.

gona bump this as i wait for 12 npcs to dash aimlessly and it takes literal minutes for each round in combat, most of which is just movement. I read the entire topic and more in 1 round.

Not really no, go play Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 and you'll see why people were complaining about the combat of 3. Personally I don't mind it, but I can see where they're coming from. If anything they should have made the combat akin to the Pathfinder games that gave you both options.
