I have always played sorceror. BG3 Sorceror needs more spells to cast
I think you need to simply increase the number of spells a sorceror can cast per day at each level. He should not be equal to a wizard in this regard he is supposed to have plentiful spells compared to a wizard that he can use interchangeably. His number of known spells should be less which is where the trade off is supposed to be.

I am only just at level 4 now.
But starting the game I only was able to cast 2 spells.. at level 1. then 3 at level 2.

Really I also notice that after I got to level 4 i pumped 2 more into charisma but yet... no more spell slots to cast... charisma is the casting statistic...

Anyway. Wizard is better from what I see since I met a wizard early on and am traveling with him. He has the same number of spell casts and yet... he can change them out all day between fights. Like he does not need to rest to take out a magic missile slot and replace it with something else. He can do this constantly... my sorceror cannot and yet he still has the same amount of spells to cast.

Sorceror points are kinda weak at giving us more spells. You need to sacrifice 2 points for a level 1 spell and 3 for a new level 2. Sure they can manipulate the spells got it I know.

This is still just far too WEAK though and sorcerors are supposed to have more spells to cast than wizards.

Also Wizards get Arcane focus points as well which give them more spells to cast per day...

Wizards are just BETTER at it all really.

Think about it who gives a DMN if you can waste an arcane point to make 1 spell do something... like target two people instead of one... is it cool idea yes but is it worth what you are giving up when you could simply pick a wizard... get all the spells you want and wizard can access more spells than sorceror. I see his spell book has some spells my sorceror cannot pick... which makes no sense. Was never like that in BG. They could access the same spells. they just did it in different ways.

Sorcerors actually had a few things like dragons breath that a wizard could not get... but not the other way around.

makes no sense.

Sorcerers seem a bit weak in the game yes. I wish they had a bit more spells at their disposal

Wizards are better for utility.

Sorcerers can be an absolute menace in damage dealing with the metamagic - like casting two fireballs at the same time.

Wizard aka the swiss army knife is arguably more fun in this game.
If you're looking for a class that has limited number of spells but can cast frequently, then you're looking for warlock.

Sorcerer is all about using your sorcerery points to either regain spell slots or empower the spells they do have. Them being based on CHA also makes them quite versatile when multiclassing.

Wizard is all about utility. They're going to have more spells to choose from and if you know what you'll need for that day, then they'll be very effective. Their downside is being based entirely on INT which is okay for passing some knowledge checks but otherwise plain worse than CHA. It also makes them a fairly poor multiclass choice.

Speaking of multiclass.

Can you multiclass into multiple wizard subclasses? :D
