About the guardian
Can someone please confirm one thing to me? ._.
I'm not afraid of spoilers at least on this topic.
Is guardian imaginary thing in our head that can take any form or it's actually very reall? I had this thought since noticed that there's no dragonborn species available to make a guardian. Some people say that there's a lore reasons for this dev decision... so I started worried about my playthrough cause I created the guardian thinking it would take form of an old friend of my CC. Because, you know, It's all trickery and stuff (Im not sure about the reasons and I don't really care is it god of a kind, devil, angel or a tadpole I just thought since EA that creature looks are very intentional).
Now when I've seen people saying that there's a lore reason behind "no dragonborn option" (because of this race is new to the Faerun aparently) I have this bad feeling that this guardian may be a real thing with it's own face and I just want to know for sure cause this kinda ruin my current playthrough

Here you go (hover to see the explanation):
I just realized that the Guardian might actually be older than 100 years so before or during the spell plague, as they have a lot of knowledge about the plan of the Absolute and about the netherese tadpoles. The Dragonborn weren´t around during the Netherese empire and only got flung into the Forgotten Realms during the spell plague. So the Guardian not beeing a Dragonborn might sadly make sense.

After you help the Emperor in Baldur's Gate 3, it's revealed that he's actually the Dreamlover/Guardian who's been visiting you at night. He was once an adventurer and, although he didn't take an arrow to the knee, he did take a tadpole to the eye.

Therefore it is assumable that the guardian's appearance is the emperor's former form before they became an Illithid.

Yeah, if Larian added a spoiler-free explanation in the menu, the initial outrage could have been avoided.

Spoiler:
The Emperor is LITERALLY Balduran. I do not know if he was human (most probably he was https://www.worldanvil.com/w/faerun-braelei/a/balduran-person ) and I believe that he just takes the form "the character may most like/desire" since that's the reason why they make you customize your guardian.

I see no reason to believe at all that "the guardian was The Emperor's original form", therefore there is no known reason why it shouldn't be a dragonborn.

He was human, you get the information when you talk toi the dragon he killed under Wyrm Rock Prison, he basically killed the dragon because the dragon wanted to either kill him or heal him from having a tadpole infection depending on dialogue , and balduran disagreed because PoWeR

Isn't the guardian Balduran himself? As in, the founder of Baldurs Gate? That'd make him, what, older than the entire dragonborn race. And then he got turned in to a mindflayer and got locked in a pocket dimension, so he wouldn't have even been around for Dragonborns showing up.

Thanks for the specifications.

I played that part, but just didn't remember everything, and since I am NOT doing "deep lore research" right now, I didn't want to make stuff up.

1) Nice of you to not use the Spoiler feature.

2) He literally reads your mind to see what stiffs your stick, so there is no logical reason to why he couldn't take the form of a dragonborn (evenmore if THE PLAYER IS A DRAGONBORN) if we assume that the reason why we get to customize the guardian is the one stated before.

isn’t that appearance just him adopting his old friends look? One he ran the mercenary guild with or w/e it is, knights of the shield iirc. Ie still before Dragonborn existed. Just got that sense from when ask him about why didn’t just appear as a hentai monster from the get go, but can’t rem if he overtly states it ever.

Either way, they changed role of that char from EA, I’d bet customizing them at all just a hold over in game’s design, and really should just be a set appearance.

Except towards the end of the game , if you don’t side with the emperor , then you and you characters all fight their versions of the guardian which all look different . I took that to mean he was none of them

Duh, the NPCs are not your PC... one more proof to support the thesis of "Emps builds your guardian off your metadata".

did you even read what the person I replied to said and what I said. How can the emperors original form , prior to be tadpoled and turning illithid be what he shows us in the dream ? When what he shows us , gale, Shadowheart etc all look different.
Hell why are you meta gaming ? I’m talking about form a story point and lore point . The emperor is NOT and was never what he depicts. Cos if he is then why the separate forms ? And if one is the true form how do you , I or anyone’s else know which , it is never stated directly or otherwise .

if you want to have argument with yourself then go on . But before you deliver your slam dunk rebuttal you may want to read and understand what the hell I was referring to .

1) Learn english.

2) The emperor is LITERALLY Balduran, a human male. It's literally revealed during a story mission.

Are you high? You have just proven my point , since he didn’t present a Baldur to me or with the others in the dreams or in my final fight then the people he pretends to be in the dreams are not him . That’s the point I’m making , WTF are you going on about ?

I think it is you who needs to learn English . At this point you are injecting an idea never postulated in order to win an imaginary argument
