str monk hit hard with the tavern passive, level 6 elemental monk has a great spell that synergize with rage, luck of far and orc. great alpha strike for a monkbarb multiclass
Do you know why they aren't intended to work together?
Its considered OP, though I disagree given how high you can take it with items on armored shield using guys. It takes a LONG time and a LOT of stuff to get triple 20s in dex, con, and wis, at which point you should be having 20+ ac since all the enemy gonna have +10 or so to hit you.
That said sorc dragon armor also doesn't stack. But shield works, so a splash of caster (even going so far as to just get it from a caster feat to get just 1 spell and 2 cantrips) would certainly hook you up.
Monks pair best with rogue. That gets you the ability to do 2 bonus actions and a fair (2d6) sneak attack here and there.
monks do well in armor too: that lets your ditch wis and cap dex, using gith or dwarf to get med armor or half elf/human to get light (for light, don't cap dex!) and build for str instead, using tavern brawler to land awesome punches. Im working lazel up as a monk with tavern brawler and moving into druid caster to buff a quarterstaff for 2 of her feats. Whether I multiclass her or not is TBD ... if I do, rogue is the most likely answer
