Do i have to buy the game twice if my wife wants to play with me on a second computer in our house?

He bought the game but we both could play it together.

You could try steam family sharing and adding her account to have access to the game. But don’t get your hopes up. Many games only allow one instance of the hand to be running at a time.

Actually, if it supports lan, you can try logging in both accs and making one offline.
This is how it always worked with steam and lan gaming.

I'm playing it with my wife too over 2 seperate devices (ROG Ally handhelds, buttersmooth 60 fps even in docked mode over huge TV screens). I always purchase all games we want to play together twice anyways, so no idea about this family share thing.

But two copies/two steam accounts work perfectly fine. Just invite her to your game or make the coop session visible to friends only (make sure she is in your steam friendlist beforehand) and she will be able to find you on the top of the server list and you are set.

U can always use 2 controllers and play co op on 1 pc

if you get the game on GOG , you can open the game using the exe file, and open as many copy's as you want , there is no DRM there

and you can still play cross platform , using the direct connect ID

It is indeed rare and surprising to see DRM-free games on Steam. I only know of a handful like Wildermyth, RimWorld and Taurus. Basically those who are DRM-free by publisher per default.

You can run the game without Steam if you run it directly from the executable. They made it function without DRM on purpose. Should be able to direct connect then

Yeah. You do not need to purchase two copies to do LAN co-op. Install the game on both computers. One computer will be the host and the other will join. One can be using steam, but neither HAVE to use Steam. You can launch the game directly from the executable in the install folder, with no steam wrapping.
