Kar'niss complaint post.
Title. I absolutely hate this dude and his design. Primarily the part where this guy casts sanctuary every other turn. Its DnD, I get that I haven't played it much. But its not an MMO or Real Time. It doesn't need immunity phases I can't do anything about. I kill his entire squad within 3 turns on normal difficulty. I really find it outright bad game design to forcibly extend the fight with "Haha, you can only hit me every other turn".

Probably the first encounter I found absolutely no enjoyment in. Would've been better if he just summoned tiny spiders every turn instead.

I agree. This is coming from someone who has played D&D as well. Invincibility rounds are incredibly broken and should not be implemented.

Silence is a virtue. Try it next time.

Oh, well. I must say it adds some challenge. Not all enemies should play by the same rules. He is also hittable by AoE and certainly does not stay in sanctuary for a long time. A multiclass cleric-sorcerer/ hasted cleric might be even able to quicken sanctuary for several round but this works in player's benefit.

Fighting him at Moonrise was one of the heights of my Honour run.
One of the few truly challenging encounters in the game for me.

Enjoyed the battle, gave me a great reward. The only really fun part of act 2 IMO.

Ah, the two Ketheric fights were great, too.
No they were like Diablo battles and actually really easy

What's challenging about a guy who makes himself helpless, exactly?

OK, now I know you're kidding.

Well if you find stuff hard you can always cheese stuff.

Like for instance if you throw a bomb you only throw one bomb but if you drop a stack of bombs and then throw the stack at something you throw all the bombs at once so if you stack enough you can just insta kill anything.

Or if you wanna be bonkers just use enlarge and then transform into a big form like a bear or owlbear then your weight will be changed to something like 5000kg+ and if you jump on something from up high you deal dmg based on your weight and height so you can easily deal hundreds of dmg by doing so.

But yeah silence makes him unable to cast sanctuary, counterspell also works wonder, any spell or attack that deals aoe dmg still works on sanctuary, I also believe aoe effects also affects someone under sanctuary, haven't extensivly tested this but sanctuary only blocks something that directly targets the one under the effect of sanctuary

As well as Silence completely preventing it being cast, area of effect attacks totally bypass Sanctuary.

Additionally , you can try to lure Kar'niss up on the roof of the building and use Thunderwave to knock him off and he will either die or take a lot of damage as there is a bit of a drop-off on the side by the ladder.

Spirit Guardians.

I still don't see how Sanctuary is actually useful for Kar'niss. It's not like he's got some debilitating spell running on you and wants to be invulnerable while it works, or is buffing his mooks.
