Can't talk to balthazar

anyone else getting a bug in Act 2 where balthazar starts talking to you and then just stops. Like he says the line "finally we can talk face to face" and then the cutscene ends and I cannot initiate a conversation with him again.

I found a workaround by initiating the conversation with Shar instead of my Main character. Dialogue changed but it at least undid the locked out state.

Yeah I did the same thing Bert, basically the only workaround that worked for me. Sorry for the late reply.

Same here. Main char (Durge) can't speak to Balthazar beyond the initial greeting. Can speak with everyone else, including Balthazar's giant zombie. So used Shadowheart instead, although it felt stupid (she's all about protecting Shar's temple from intruders rather than helping them).

The bug is that if you exit a scripted fight the npcs will glitch. I'm playing solo as a stealthy character, and the enemies just left the fight at will, even though I just hid from them at the end of the turn.
To avoid this problem you just have to try to kill all enemies at once without leaving the fight.

Still having this issue despite multiple tries, Im running a Dark Urge Duergar. His sequence begins with "Finally we can talk face to face" (Which is unique to any other character) then it gets cut short and I'm unable to speak with him further.

I was playing Dragonborn, turns out he doesn't like the race. Disguising as another race allowed him to interact with me.

And the other guy "Dragonborn" clearly dark urge too.

This is clearly a dark urge bug.

Playing stealthy Astarion. Mid-fight went to stealth, AI freaked out, still managed to get back to combat and end it, but after it Balthazar didn`t regen, and I can`t speak to him, but he still reacts to some stuff, like stealing, etc. Will kill him, I guess, will learn, what he has to say next playthrough. Want and need to kill him anyway)

Just talk to him with one of your other party members. Had the same issue - Dark Urge - though initiating conversation with Shadowheart allowed me to progress.
