4 male - soft - middle-class voices, that's it?
What a huge disappointment and immersion breaking decision. Whoever thought this was a good idea to limit the voices to these 4 softly spoken middle-class needs to be sacked - or was it intentional? Can't have a strong male voice option? I'm playing a Dwarf warrior, who sounds like he's going to say "Where is my soy latte please".

For such an amazing game, this strikes of "Can't have a masculinity in this game, it will put off the non-binary people". Honestly, I'm noticing more woke stuff now that's ruining - or at least detracting, the game experience for the 0.1% of constantly hurt people.

I mean, am I wrong? This is a RPG, I want to experience a rough Dwarf fighter, but every time he speaks up, it ruins the experience. I'm going to have to reroll an Elf I think, lol.

Maybe people complained of toxic masculinity?

I find it peculiar that my scruffy half orc talks like some intellectual from a university of Bereghast

This has bothered me since Baldur's gate 1. At least they got rid of the portraits. I personally think that the voices they give your character always constrains the choices you can have for what your character looks like. I agree the voice has to fit the character, and they often just don't. But I just accept it and play anyway.

Every stupid decision by Larian doesn’t have to have to do with pleasing the LGBT community. Not every non straight man sounds like an English Lord. Not everyone in the community says ‘darling’ every sentence. A lot of people are masculine with gruff voices.

Larian should have made a larger variety of voices. They didn’t because they designed the character customisation badly.

What's not masculine about saying darling?

I was with your complaint until you unironically used your character not getting to growl like a badass to start complaining about soy lattes, like some boomer that still wears spiked leather jackets and rides a harley. Now I hope they add ten more voices and they're ten times more effeminate just to spite you because this post went full cringe REAL fast

The proposed idea that you objectively aren't manly enough unless you talk like you're from New York and the bass in your voice rattles the listener's skull... Makes me wonder if there's a particular reason why lighter voices on men bother you this much lmfao

The desire for more gravely voices is fine on its own and valid af, but jesus the way you chose to complain about it just muddied the water

All you had to say was "I wish we had deeper voices" fam, not talk about lighter voices like there's some secret society that forced Larian's hand in making the men not growl every sentence

Your characters voice is barely used. For the most part you are silent as the lead character.

You should give up the soy lattes.

Sounds possible.

But isn't it weird that every single "mistake" goes in that same direction?

And isn't it weird that every western company just happens to make "mistakes" in this exact same direction, always, every time?

I mean, take the modern trend of western devs creating fugly characters, specially women, if beauty was subjective as they claim it to be, how come they are always, 100% of the time, hitting off the mark "as if" it was done on purpose? If they really couldn't tell the difference between a beautiful woman and an average/below average one because it's all "subjective", wouldn't they accidentally stumble upon a 2B, a Samus or pretty much (almost) every female street fighter character from time to time?

How curious that all of these mistakes only ever go into one direction.

The lack of voices is an issue though. Let alone a dwarf deep voice, there is no high pitched mad gnome voice either, how am I supposed to bring back Tiax ??

The OP mentioned voices. They also are missing older voices. And a jolly happy bard voice. And probably half orc should sound a bit different given the tusks. I don’t see the lack of voices having to do with any direction.

And it’s not only that. The tone of the available voices is quite similar. At least in the character creator I could only detect a slight difference in Voice 3 and just left it on Voice 1 cause I didn’t care.

Larian just failed at offering enough customisation options.

Edit: And -just another thought- that’s why I didn’t want a fully voiced PC. Imagine your dwarf with the available options.

What the ♥♥♥♥ is a "middle-class" voice? hahahahahahaha

Are you wrong? Yea you are. Couldve just complained about lack of options, instead you do as your favourite online forum or politician commanded you. Absolute weirdo.

Greed my half orc doesn't sound gruff but that doesn't mean the OP sounds highly insecure.

He is looking for an underclass voice to identify with. Someone who merely grunts, boogers, and rails against foreigners and gays in a deep voice.
