So Karlach is a ****ing liability? (spoilers for her recruitment)
I had to fight the battle against the "paladins" three times. The first two times, after finishing the fight, she went berserk and murdered my party.

She just runs around, setting everything on fire. My party-- who got knocked around during the fight-- all got set on fire simply by standing still while she ran by... TPK twice.

The third time, I unlocked the group selection, and had them all run out of the house.

Does this happen every time she fights? I was considering bringing her along, and possibly respec'ing her as a Paladin because I think that would be funny...

But not if she's going to set everything on fire every three minutes.

You are in for a ride of many more nasty surprises like that...
As far as I have seen no (but im not super far with her yet), but she gets excited taking out the paladin and looses control starts breaking stuff, usually if dialog can be opened you can talk her down but I didn't I encouraged her to wreck the house and I stepped out lol

If you plan on being evil she will dump you anyway

Oh, from a character- building perspective, it was neat...

But when my other three party members all literally died-- not KO'd, DIED because they were still taking fire damage-- it was less awesome.

That's pretty cool to have a barbarian who's actually berserk for once.

I just killed these frauds without Karlach, they weren't a challenge really.

Don't know why would she do that to you, every time I used her after recruiting she never did anything without my command.

I think you just have to not use her machine and you will be good, she's a good tank/damage.

That's actually nice to know ahead of time so I can avoid her, I've run into other similar problems with other companions.

Between that and going berserker so I can keep throwing chairs at people in a rage, I can't justify keeping Lae'zel even though I like her too.

It's scripted at the end of that fight and brings you to the next step of her quest.

When it happened to me she killed Gale, which comicaly triggered his companion quest. I wasn't excepting that.

I mean she broke a bunch of crates and that was it, I was alright with that. Karlach is actually the best companion in my opinion. I killed Astarion during a cutscene at camp and then Lae'zel and now I finally have only sane people with me.

You know you don't have to actually have Karlach in the party to complete that quest right? Then you avoid that whole thing and you can also run away from her, or you know engage turn based so you can more easily run away?
I thought it was absolutely hilarious.

For anyone having trouble in these sort of situations - switch to turn based mode, you can do this out of combat, it gives you a chance to plan your way out without all the things happening while you think.

If I change Karlach's class from Barbarian to Rogue will she behave erratically too?

I am pretty sure it's only the first encounter she does this, altough a big lumbering Rouge is funny lol
