Report a translation problem
The Divinity Engine release for Baldur's Gate is not available just yet. Larian, the developer, was focused first on releasing the game. They have since been publicly very active in maintaining the game with patches fixing various bugs and adding requested QoL features.
There has also been an extensive issue with the Xbox port concerning the Xbox Series S that they have found some compromise with Microsoft and are aiming to release before the end of the year.
The most recent information that I have found for upcoming mod support is in this interview with the Larian Studio Head Sven:

TLDR: he confirmed extending modding support is coming, though did not detail any specifics.
MY ANALYSIS ATM:
There is concern that Larian will opt to not release the Divinity Engine 4.0 and will instead provide basic modding support. Divinity Engine 2.0 was disappointing in terms of released custom levels and campaigns (however game developers list projects and perform design tests with Divinity Engine 2.0 as an option. CD Projekt RED is one example of this), but with the huge success of Baldur's Gate 3 and modding appeal, it is my hope they will do so and build off their previous experience to provide a more stable and improved usability experience in new tools without losing the depth of their capabilities. However this was my hope with Witcher 3, and CD Projekt RED never revisited the REDkit after Witcher 2.
