I really want to love this game, but looting is Extremely tiring
I spend 80% of my time in this game - maybe even more, opening boxes, crates, cocoons, sacks, shelves, backpacks for stuff to add to wares by clicking on every single item twice.

Every so often something worthwhile is in one of these boxes, so I cannot just leave them

Just like the previous larian game which also killed my joy by this insane gameloop. Spend most of my time mousing over all the stuff in all the location, just to see if there was anything hidden anywhere.

And why even have e single empty box in this game? Why? The old baldurs gate game also had empty boxes and barrels, but they only had like 2 in an entire house at the most, and they at least showed the lootable containers up in bright purple by holding down a key. Here it is every single room, every single container, all of which must be found by mouseing over.

Its really holding this game back for me.

the inventory system is also really cluttered and bad
CTRL + Click (in inventory) - highlight multiple items one by one, right click "add to wares" "send to x, etc."
shift click item - shift click another item = highlights all the items inbetween those two. right click "add to wares" "send to x"

this is how you instantly empty your camp supplies bag to your travelers chest and so on

Has anyone tried a no barrel looting play through? i wonder what it'd be like.

Do you think real adventurers look into every nook & cranny and take everything along with them what they can carry no matter how worthless it is?

I would just love the option to toggle the tooltips on the world. Chemo wrecked my hands, and constantly having to press and hold or repeatedly tap 1 button (repetitive motion stress) during all of game play to not miss out on loot reduces how long I can play.

I'm really surprised after all the years of testing, this checkbox didn't show up in options. Honestly, the accessibility section isn't much of an accessibility section. Loving the game otherwise.

Yeh it's made alot worse when you clip another character and have to wait for that slow camera move to them, then the chat options, which invariably don't have a leave conversation... so you navigate out of the convo, get back to looting and 3 seconds later the same thing happens again.. and again.. and again..

Playing RDR2 again lately.

Are you telling me it's worse than in RDR2? Because that'd be saying something. The clutter of interfaces, controls and the high time consumption of looting, crafting and every other animation cannot possibly be surpassed... Can it?

I do have to admit I the loot area modes of other games for the bodies and I think in some cases things on the ground would be nice. BG2 showed a list of everything in range. Though chests and boxes had to be looted individually.
Kyutaru Aug 6, 2023 @ 10:09am
If you're tired of looting, just don't loot. You don't need to check every barrel in the game.

Need money? Steal it. Pickpocket vendors for their wares. Or kill them. Or stick to storied fights, which drop great gear in the first place. No need to wander off looking for side stuff unless you ENJOY treasure hunting for shinies. The game doesn't require you to have them.
