[heavy spoiler] good endingfor karlach?

hi everyone.

sorry for the confusing title, dont want to spoil things

currently arrived at the inn inside the shadow curse. ive met dammon with karlach and got he rheart isolated. dammon said , that there is no ultimatley cure: either karlach explode or have to go back to avernus.


now i want to ask you, assuming you already finished the game/karlach questline or are atleast further in the game than i, if there is acure and when does the next step in her questline starts (currently i dont have any new entry in the questlog about her).

Everything I have seen so far was from act 1, so I suspect they may be a possibility to save her. Maybe a deal with Zariel to find a replacement, a pact, but there has to be something or it'd be a real middle finger to everyone who tried to romance her.

From what I've read (because this same thing was bothering me) that you can chose to go back to Avernus with her near the end of the game. From the little I could find, if you show compassion and general concern for her well-being you'll get a dialogue option at some point thats something along the lines of "oh ♥♥♥♥ it, let's go to avernus" and then that's that.

So there could be a way but it could be related to bugged quests at the moment. It doesn’t make much sense because karlach is an origin character that you wouldn’t be able to fully heal her

Guys I got fingered by her with my male character in the inn. what the ♥♥♥♥? Does anyone had the same problem?

Very much hope you're right about this. As much as I think character deaths can be very impactful, I'd much rather a way to keep her around without heading into the hells lol

guys, we found another possible ending for karlach. in short: if you follow wylls quest, in the end he can include karlach in his contract to offer her protection from zeriel.

Went ahead and got the comment for anyone else curious.

"Hey Buddy, I've returned with an official answer for you, and from experience now.

From the Larian Dev Team (Who kindly responded to my discord DM);

There is no final upgrade, if you're not playing as Karlach, her fate is to return to Avernus, die or become a mindflayer, though she does survive if you're playing as her, I dunno how, neither did the Dev that messaged me back.

HOWEVER! GOOD NEWS!

If you Complete Wyll's questline, and make sure he renews his pact with Mizura to save his father, he will offer to partner with Karlach as she's burning up at the end, and protect her from Zariel so that she can continue to live, which SHE chooses to accept, you don't force it on her.

I'm so so happy and glad I could be the bearer of goodish news."

only think i am still interested is: does this spoiler way, "ruins" the romance path with karlach?

update: the spoiler path above is still not a good/perfect ending, assuming that you decided to romance karlach.

if you decide to do (lets call it) the wyll-path, karlach decided to go alone to avernus, even if you romanced her. so in this case you have to head cannon yourself that your character goes with her. in the "default" path (without wyll) you have the known options: turn her into a mindflayer, let her die or go with her into avernus. the most annoying thing is that ( i cant vouch for that, since i didnt got that far) you dont even get a special ending slide show (if you played DOS" you know what i mean) ==> it seems her ending is resolved simply through dialogue.

Ah. Unfortunate. Hopefully in the future then they either add a "good" ending for her or, what I suspect is going to happen, someone will mod one in

Definitely a bummer though, yeah. Easily my favourite companion
