Failed to Load Main Menu Possible Fix
I wasn't able to launch the game past the main menu with mods. First, it kept getting stuck at 100% or can't load the main menu issue.

A fix I found on the Nexus worked for me you have to scroll down until you see the comment with the code by QueenBoomkin

Basically, the Mod Manager has been deleting the GustavDev [Full Release Mod Fixer] lines in the mod settings LSX file.

So after I used the mod manager to export my load order I added the GustaveDev lines back into the file and the game ran fine.

----------------------------------------
Steps that I did
1: Use the Mod Manager and export my mods
2: Open the mods folder in the AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods and made sure I had the Full Release mod fixer PAK in there
3: Open the mod settings LSX file found in AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\PlayerProfiles\Public
4: In the LSX file I looked for the line <node id="ModOrder">
and pasted this code under <children>

<node id="Module">
<attribute id="UUID" value="28ac9ce2-2aba-8cda-b3b5-6e922f71b6b8" type="FixedString" />
</node>

5: Then I looked for <node id="Mods"> and pasted this code under its <children>

<node id="ModuleShortDesc">
<attribute id="Folder" value="GustavDev" type="LSString" />
<attribute id="MD5" value="33023ce68aaac5860e0d705ab0cd21b9" type="LSString" />
<attribute id="Name" value="GustavDev" type="LSString" />
<attribute id="UUID" value="28ac9ce2-2aba-8cda-b3b5-6e922f71b6b8" type="FixedString" />
<attribute id="Version64" value="144115220291731812" type="int64" />
</node>

6: Saved the text file and opened the game and it worked.

Hopefully, this helps anyone else having this problem :3

would completely uninstalling BG3 from steam and then reinstalling it fix the issue as i have had the same issue as you have posted here today. i am currently reinstalling my game. hoping it fixes it. yes i have completely deleted the mods from vortex manager and the full release mod fixer as well before i uninstalled my copy of the game.

Possibly I tried several fixes at the same time and not sure which combination worked for me. I was using early access with mods. The game updated to full release and I couldn't run it. It kept crashing to desktop. So I tried to verify the files and it didn't work. Then I tried deleting the mods, and the mod settings file, then I made a copy of the level cache just in case and then deleted the files in that folder too (because it can also cause problems) apparently. I think after that I got the game to run vanilla. Then, I used the above fix to be able to run the game with mods.

Also, someone on the Nexus just uploaded a mod that may help

Seems like both the game devs and modders are working to fix this so this problem may be fixed sooner than later.

yeah i understand. what would make it easier for people that wish to mod the game. is if Larian actually had the steam mod workshop on steam. that way people could upload their mods to that and it would perhaps simplify the process. my game is still reinstalling at the moment. but read that alot of people said that them deleting the main mod setting file. fixed the issue which i have already done. if that doesnt work then i will delete the main bg3 folder itself and see if that works.

Yeah Mod-Mangers seem to be rather broken for many at this point.

There seem to be 2 main issues i read about - the first one is what you described where the modding tool fails to create a complete modding file - you can fix that by fixing it yourself.

And the second one seems to be issues with the game directory. I bought the game at the beginning of EA and just deleted it a few days before release. I had to install it on another HD because it was to big for the storage where the EA was. Uninstalling didnt remove the Game Folder (was empty) and the modding-tool thought the old directory (which was empty) was the game directory - so check that aswell.

Im not really sure why they didnt add a simple mod manager themselves - having to rely on a third party app for simple text edits is rather weird.

I cant even find the Larian Studios folder. The only trace of the game i have on my hard drive is on a completely other folder. Any help with that?
