It seems like a bug. There is time limited quest, yes, but no matter if I complete it on time or not, after a long rest Grymforge become empty - its only a few monsters in specific area
mimics, which are not "npcs" at the moment, but everything else is empty. I didnt noticed it the first time (since I never knew what to expect in this area), but figured something wrong after explored almost whole location. But after I loaded older save and progressed through location again, after a long rest NPCs are gone again. Dont know what to do at this point :(
While I totally appreciate your response and investigation, I have to wonder if this is really a bug? I feel like something this game-changing would be all over the forums as it literally deletes an entire area of Act 1 for players.
Maybe I'll bump this thread a few times today to see if anyone else chimes in. These forums move FAST, so I'll try to keep it relevant. Thanks!
I was at the Nera part with the rocks to clear... Didnt do that, went back to mushroom area to level.
But not before I decided to go up the elevator despite the warnings of "the level is higher than your party, tie up loose ends etc". Just to look around quick.
I *THINK* its because I went up that elevator and maybe it then made the nera questline null and void... I hope nothing else going forward is messedup.
I've never touched EA and this is also my first playthrough so take this with a grain of salt but maybe entering the area triggered the timer for the quest/area and so when you left/rested it advanced to a fail-state?
There are missable storylines in the game and this is one of them.
Basically be careful not to fast travel away from Grymforge, the first you arrive.
A party member even warns you not to leave.
You can take long rests as much as you want, just stay in in Grymforge.
Otherwise you fail: Missing Boot, Save the gnomes, and the Nere's head, quests.
Allright now go to sleep y'all
I had just teleported to camp, didn't leave the area, to switch out a party member, and when I came back, everyone was gone in mine, as well. So add to the list, even though long rest works, do not teleport to camp.
Guess I'll have to reload the save and do the fight again, so that's like three hours of progress wasted.
