How does Hex work???
I've been hexing enemies but it never gives me the option to put a hex onto a new enemy without spending another spell slot once the original target is dead. Am I missing something here? I don't have anything to click on

right side of the hotbar, if you lose concentration (ie getting hit and failing the save) you lost the ability to cast again iirc

there is section on your skillbar where you can see all your "reaction" skills. It is the most right section. Here you will see hex spell for free cast

Larian made ultra bad UX\UI, yeah

That little box is also where you'll see other recasts if you're using an item for speak with the dead for instance.

Can you elaborate more? Do you need to kill the hex target first before re-hexing? Do you need to land the final blow? To my understanding, hunter's mark must be the ranger's kill to be a free cast.

If the target dies before the spell ends, you can use a bonus action to hex a new creature.
It doesn't matter who kills the target.

Thing is, I did this and it made me consume a spell slot

Did you use the regular symbol or the recast one? Because you can still cast the spell normally.

say thx to Larian for there worst UI design ever
On skillbar (the one where you can drag left and right sections) there is a section for reaction\recast spells and abilities. And it appears only if you have such spell and ability. That means, when you cast Hex and after this killed the affected enemie, Hex spell will be shown in 2 places: section with your spells and section with recast. Now you can use Hex from recast section for free cost.

the UI needs some more fixing IMO, I'm primarily a ranged attacker and I can't seem to make the "off hand ranged" stick to my hotbar lol.
