Does it still hold up after act 1?
Way back with DOS 2 Larian only allowed people to play the first act. When the game fully released people found that the later acts (3 and 4 in particular if i remember right) had rather serious degradation's in quality compared to the first act.

With BG 3 they've only allowed people to play the first act in EA. I know its only been a couple of days, and that its a long game but are there signs they may have made the same mistake?

I'm very interested in getting this game. But if i'm going to commit to a game that takes 100 hours to finish and has a huge amount of replayability i want to know if the longer it goes the less enjoyable it becomes.

While i appreciate the award and the sentiment it conveys. I'd like a somewhat detailed response if someone would be so inclined.

This game gets better and better imo, I have 40 hours in the Early Access and 40 hours in the full game. Having more fun as I go along tbh

tbh I found Act 2 kinda lacking. Haven't finished it yet, but from the get go its just doom gloom and apparently if you decide to do one of the companion quests early, you are locked out of the rest of the content until you finish the stage boss.

Not really. The ending was kind of disappointing.

i wanna know what the fast bois think about this too :)

im scared the "polish" will diminish in later acts. it was the case for dos2 at launch
been taking my sweet time combing a1 as much as possible.

It falls off a bit, specially at act 3... optimization issues start at the city and some writing is...real bad past act 1, it's rare enough to not be jarring...but it's not good.

There's already lots of talk of more bugs and performance loss after act 1
The last act really took the wind out of my sails. I felt like it was just getting good and then they gave up and said I guess we'll end it here.

The main story I mean, there was fun side stuff along the way.

Same. As i said in the OP i'm hesitant to commit the time if the game gets less enjoyable the longer it goes.

Hmm. i dont mind a minor drop. I'm not unresaonable and i'm aware that maintain a high quality will be difficult across 100 hours. Are these things impacting your overall enjoyment of act 3? Or is it more in the moment of experiencing them?

The bigger impact is st the end, which while I won't say much, has prompted me to not bother with ANY origin character and create a 4 Dragonborn power ranger team to slowly play through the game, without crate skipping shenanigans.

Act 1 is good.
Act 2 is pretty good.
Act 3 is really bad.

See that worries me. If the game ends in an unsatisfying manner then that will bother me. I like stories in games. I'm someone that really hated the Mass effect 3 endings and felt they impacted the journey across the trilogy as a whole. Not saying at all that BG 3 ends that badly of course.

Would you say the ending impacts your desire to reply it? Or is it still good enough that while disappointing you don't mind working towards it again?

It's not as bad as mass effect 3 endings, your choices do matter to an extent, just probably not to the extent you...think they would, with some choices simply not mattering, at all.

It hasn't stopped me from wanting to now do a slow do everything playthrough without using crate bs to 1 shot bosses, but I honestly just do not want to play with or as origins characters.

The act that takes place in the city is a bit disappointing compared to the previous ones. Leaving aside that it is the act with the most bugs, the main boss battles are uninspired, there is less interaction between party members, and the dungeons are smaller.
