The first quest of Karlach heavily goes against DnD lore and it really annoys me.

Even if demons pass themselves for paladins, they cannot use paladins power in the lore. You need to be bound by one of the oaths for that and they are not.

It's really annoying that Larian just went freestyle with the lore, especially since they were hellbent on going with 5th Ed' which - in my opinion - is by far the lesser TTRPG.

In 5th edition lore paladins oaths are just something they've dedicated themselves to. So there's no reason a demon couldn't be a paladin.

On top of that there is also oath breakers, for all we know they were paladins before and brake their paths? Is there any indication of their oath after all? I would say that pr oath of vengeance which doesn't seem to require good to maintain lol

Because in 5e lore you don't choose a diety, a diety chooses you (kind of).

You're like, "Man those goblins totally ♥♥♥♥♥♥ my home village, I'm gonna kill ALL of them!", and maybe a diety is like "Hey, I hate those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ goblins too!" and you swear an oath to eradicate them and fabulous secret powers are revealed to you as you hold aloft a magic sword.

Strictly speaking you don't even need a diety, but you can certainly write that up as part of your lore.

This may come as a shock to you, but just like in real DnD, enemies and NPCs are not required to follow the same rules as the players.

Devils are lawful.
And asmodus is a god.
Them having paladin powers is possible.

Evil paladins existed for several editions.

I'm not following the rationale.
1. I'm not sure what stops a demon from swearing an Oath.
2. I'm not 100% sure the fake paladins were actually demons, more humans under Zariel's control.
3. I thought one of them said they used to be paladins, so they could be oathbreakers which still share paladin powers.
4. They said they were given powers from Zariel, which might manifest into powers that are similar to paladins, especially if they are tasked with hunting down a "demon."

There is absolutely no lore reason why devil, demons, et al couldn't be paladins. There are evil oaths, and oathbreakers.
