Heavy amounts of lag

Same here. And I know for a fact that it isn't my rig. But since someone might ask: MSI Titan GT77 on Windows 11, Intel i9-13980HX, 2200Mhz, 24 Cores, 32 Logical processors, 64GB DDR5, GeForce RTX 4080, 2TB NVMe SSD...

Completely unplayable here too. Mine worked fine in EA and on launch up until today. Now it's extremely slow to get through the first loading screen to the main menu. I've verified my game files with no issues, restarted and fully shut down my machine, launched from the bin folder and uninstalled and reinstalled the game and nothing works. Drivers are all up to date as well. As soon as it gets passed the Larian logo screen and the nVidia screen, it just sits and spins the wheel at 100% extremely slowly. The background art takes forever to flip to the next one and when it does it takes like 30 seconds to switch. Extremely frustrating!

Was there an update or something? Yesterday everything was smooth. Now game is lagging.

After playing for several hours on a 3070 the game started getting some extreme fps drops. That was the last time I played but I suspect it will be fine when I launch it anew

use dx11 for nvidia, nvidia sucks at vulkan compared to amd.

I used vulkan yesterday and dx 11 today. In EA I had no problems running the game. Yesterday I had no problem running the game. Today for some reason i got stuck and had to reload the game as all UI items were gone

A thing that significantly improved my performance was to switch from borderless window mode to fullscreen. Way less stuttering. Try this! (I am on Nvidia and use DX11.)

Intel Core i7 2600K @ 3.40GHz
16 gb RAM

and I can play on ULTRA settings without any lag (though I have only played a few hours, so still in act 1).

but I would say go for fullscreen
check that your monitor driver is also up to date (not just via windows update or device manager but go to manufacturer website and check latest monitor driver there)
and check that your game is installed on SSD (that seems to be very important according to Larian Studios, though i have not tried on HDD myself so I don't know what difference it can make)

I use Vulcan and it works great (not tried DX11)

I hope you get it sorted out so you can enjoy BG3.

I was able to fix it by updating my intel graphics driver to Arc. No more lag. The new Hotfix must require the latest intel drivers even though it runs with nVIDIA. Go figure. Hope that helps!
