Gale romance bug?

Apologies if it has been posted before, I have not found new threads.

So I remember that in EA triggering Gale's romance was kind of complicated and required careful steps (not to leave the Grove, not to recruit Wyll, do everything slowly and rest a lot).

I have managed to trigger the weave scene (in EA and now), which was supposed to trigger party romance with him. However, I did not have the scene after it where he confesses about Mystra, and if I recall correctly, EA had this scene.

Gale as a romance option is supposedly available, any companion is, so I am not sure what has changed in the release and why is it not triggering.

Anyway, my question is - did someone here have the same bug? What's the workaround? How many times do I need to rest and where not to wander?

I got the weave scene but at the party he tells me he is too volitile and wont romance. i am wondering if they changed it and it now takes longer to romance him. almost all other companions are open to romance will my character except Gale. I am wondering if they changed it because I am afraid to get further in and realize it is just not working. HAS ANYONE BEEN ABLE TO ROMANCE HIM AT THE PARTY????? IF SO, I MAY HAVE TO START OVER WHICH WOULD BE SO MUCH CONTENT TO DO OVER.

I'm in a similar situation as well.

Triggered the weave scene.
Triggered the go to hell scene.
He talked about the wizard in the tower.
Approval is maxxed out(exceptional) but I still get told to go have fun alone at the party.

I tried long rest spam before the party but I think I literally ran out of scenes because I don't get ANY other conversations/scenes that could be blocking a required trigger for him.

I read somewhere that people mentioned if you get your approval too high it can brick the romance, I still have the underdark left before I have to trigger the party so I will try to get Gale's approval a bit lower to see if it might have any effect.

Why would Larian give their buggiest romance to their hottest wizard?

I would also say that maybe another hint towards this being actually the intended romance path is that when going to bed after being told by Gale to have fun you have the option to essentially think about him and the weave scene instead of spending the night with anyone else, which is the game at least acknowledging that you still want to pursue him so maybe there is something down the line?

I think that because the full game literary just came out, people are still trying to figure out the workarounds and what works with him and if it’s even possible.

What I would love is for someone from
Larian to confirm if it’s intended or not, and that Gale romance indeed takes longer and he is just not romancable at the party (which is odd, but I’ll take it). It’s totally fine if it is, definitely better than being in a limbo of some sorts.

Same here.
Its super irritating. I get that this is suppose to be 'harder', but thats more than that. I was going slowly and resting a lot, but only was able to trigger weave scene, go to hell scene and the doppler scene. I tried everything, I literally maxed out approval and tried non maxed out. Gave him all the artifcts. I noticed that sometimes I do not get the approvals on decision I get in precious playthrough (I restarted). Also Gale sometimes calls my character him (its a hot lady bard), which also annoys me.
Its a BUG as they say :) Larian needs to fix that, thats unplayable. It worked way better in early access.

For now I am done with frienzone playtrough and waiting for a fix.

Do you by any chance have a link to the other discussions about it? Maybe Larian's forum? Was it a confirmed bug? Will they patch it? Any workarounds so far? Does everyone who want to romance Gale get this at the party or is it random?

I am trying to romance Gale but I have some problems as well. Had the weave scene and the scene, where he tells you about Mystra. Gave him 3 Artefacts, approval maximun... He told me several times, that he is into me but always said things like "this is not the right moment" etc. Today at a long rest I walked into Wyll dancing and ended up kissing him.. after that Gale was like "You have to choose, you can't have us both" and seemed very disappointed. But even if you choose Gale there is no new romance interaction with him..

Bug declarain was my assumption :) So far nothing on Larian forum. There are couple discussion online about this - but this is still unclear. Found a reddit thread that says someone romanced him in Act2 [https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/15izxze/romance_bug_fix/]. So maybe he has been moved to another act. There is still possibility that this is by design. All online guides are based of beta so they may have introduced some changes. Regardless how weird they seem at this moment.

In the end when my irritation passed I decided to just go with the flow. I'll just try to have fun and wait for more info to come through :) There are other options. Anyone but Lae'zel in fact. She is way too creepy :D

Same issue. My goal was to romance Gale and only Astarion took the bait. I'm like... What? I did everything for Gale and he still won't go through a romance scene??? I hope this is not a bug...

I'm happy to say that it is not bugged!

You need to trigger certain story elements for his romance to continue and this will not happen until Act 2.

I thought mine was bugged for the longest time but I just got his main scene after arriving in Moonrise Towers with his approval at max.

I think his romance just takes longer! Larian did mention that they wanted each relationship to be and progress different, I feel like it's fitting for someone like Gale to maybe inhibit himself a little around the MC :D

I think if you triggered all possible scenes with him (Weave, Artifacts, Tower talk, Mystra) and "fantasized" about him taking you to places in the Weave, you're good :D
I'm hardly out of Act I but approval is maxed out with him and I'll continue to keep interactions positive and see where it takes me.

i have another problem with Gale: my pg is a male characher (with also male identity), but Gale want to start a romance with me (already two events, and i don't want) and call me as female (i have also aleady a romance with Shadowheart). All other characters and call me with my correct gender (male). Anyone has the same problem?

I had this same thing happen. I was a bit surprised. He seemed to be to busy constantly talking about Mystra to notice me.
