PSA: Boosting performance + fix the FPS halving issue with "Fullscreen mode"
PSA: Fullscreen mode makes the game run way better. But the problem for some of us is when enabling this it beings fps down to 24fps. The issue is caused by VSYNC being turned on, turn it off in the Nvidia global settings panel (Manage 3d settings -> vertical sync should be set to off).

Restart the game, go to video settings and make sure the "Refresh rate" is not set to 23/24, set the refresh rate to match your monitor's refresh rate e.g. 60hz or 120hz.

That solved that annoying issue for me.

Also for extra performance with DLSS, download the latest DLSS file "NVIDIA DLSS DLL 3.1.30 CL 33090507" from Techpowerup website (google it) and then replace the file 'nvngx_dlss.dll' in the folder \steamapps\common\Baldurs Gate 3\bin , with the newest DLSS file you downloaded. The game shipped with the old DLSS file, so updating this helps FPS.

be careful about downloading the DLSS file from other websites, i believe the techpowerup website is a trusted source

Well hope you do us a favor and properly report what they forgot to put in the game. (OLD DLSS file).

I have not had any crashes myself.

Only in some rare places does there seem to be performance lags.

Nothing on my PC is maxed. So my PC has plenty of GPU/ram/processing power etc. I also have everything on max settings.

But the slight lag I see in some rare places thus far well I do know its the game because I check if my computer is pushing to hard or not and it always has like 60% usage meaning plenty of room for more.

Good you are offering some advice, so don't take my remarks as a negative one....

I have my frames capped at 60 fps ( monitor is set to 60hz ) playing at 1080p, maxed graphic settings, using DLSS and Vulkan. Game is very stable and plays very smoothly on my RTX 3060ti OC. and I7 11700kf.

Also using Fullscreen and have the Larian launcher set to skip. And not a single game crash yet after close to 20 hrs of game play.

So this indicates, some are not going to have the issues you pointed out. But if they do, they certainly should give your tips a try.

I guess I should have added in the fact that I'm playing at 4k with 120hz display.

Getting about 80-100fps with a RTX 3080 mobile gpu, with the improvements I wrote in the OP.
