Why is every single combat encounter in this game Deadly? If this was actual tabletop every encounter would be considered way too tough for the party
I just don't understand the mentality of having all of these ridiculously hard combat encounters one after the other. It's like you basically need to long rest every combat to get anything done.

What difficulty are you playing on? Is this your first D&D/Pathfinder type game?

No, it's not. I have played 5E tabletop since 2014. I've played the original BG games many times over. I am not a newb when it comes to this kind of game

First hours in bg1 where pretty deadly too , no?

On Balanced i think the game is pretty easy. I mean there are some encounters that has some challenge, espacially if you are underleveled or don't have your spellslots ready ect. But most fights are no issue what so ever.

it's true rhat some encounters are quite.... npc-cheating

Approaching this purely from a 5e standpoint is a bad mentality.
This game gives you so crazy many tools to pop off, im playing tactician, have cleared most of the content that was in EA thusfar, often at a much lower level than normal and have only had one death.

Pretty much. I am a novice when it comes to actual DnD rules and I am not having any issues with any encounters on normal mode, I even cleared some against monsters that were higher level than me, and ones where I was heavily outnumbered. For example I won a fight against the level 5 big warping spider boss when my party was level 3, only had to reset once to refine my strategy. It's not a game for people who just throw themselves at the enemy, there is a great emphasis here on strategy, positioning, and preparation.

People are too used to braindead mainstream video games that offer zero challenge even on highest difficulty levels. So when they encounter a game that actually requires them to think they get their butts kicked.

Read how your skills work, look at the battlefield the first time you enter combat and if you are wiped out just readjust based on what you saw, make use of the environment and the options you have. This game is an absolute joke on Tactician.

You could literally die to some random wolf. Especially on some classes like a mage where spells have cast times and you have MAYBE somewhere around 6 hp if you rolled high stats.

I have found most encounters fairly easy so far. The only thing that has challenged me so far is the phase spiders.

But those games have no similarities to Baldur's Gate III.

The video game format of turn-based role-playing is completely different than tabletop.

And those Baldur's I & II games are almost 25-years old.

Have you played Solasta: Crown, Pathfinder: Wrath, Divinity: Original Sin, Wasteland III, or Obsidian's Pillars games?

That's the experience that you need.

Not Dungeons & Dragons. Or video games that are a hundred years old.

I'm on tactician and I've lost one time (because a bug caused Gale to go prone on the fight start). If you're finding every combat deadly on normal I worry for you.

I'm not even good at tactics games, I play Xcom on normal and barely scrape through!
