Is someone enjoying the long rest and short rest mechanics?
Look, i am fine with it being inspired to dnd, not that i care about it at all if the game is good. But what is the point in having these damn long rest mechanics.

I started my first playthrough on tactician and i am absolutely fine with dying over and over but it's kinda absurd that you can't do 2 fights in a row because the skills won't come off cd. Why is it like that? What is the point of not being able to take 2 fights one after another, it only makes the game more tedious imo.

Example: the first chappel on the island, i managed to kill the badits outside. Going inside, after the first one i got ambushed again and this time pretty much all of my skills are on CD and i have almost ntohing but basic attacs. Do i have to camp after every single encounter?

Guess you've never played tabletop D&D - use up your spell slots, etc. and you don't get them back until you rest. You fought outside the chapel and then took the risk of going inside without resting up. Actions have consequences.

You need to learn how to manage your resources more my man. Also learn to find different entrances and prepare for battles better so they are more in your favor. What classes are you having trouble with?

Not really many issues, eventually i will manage it. I just can't understand why a mechanic that stupid was put into the game. It's a huge step backwards from divinity 2. It seems like a good game but the combat is quite a step down. So the solution is to set camp after every encounter? If the original dnd had it it doens't matter that it's a good mechanic to put into the game

My thoughts on the rest mechanic are that its so simple and instant to do The only the reason that makes me not do it is the 30secs to finish and return back to the main world.

Part of the game is managing your spells so you don't have to go back everytime. But yes, if you burn through everything, you prob should long rest. But long resting also has story progression parts so it's important to do as well. Plus it only takes like a min or less to do.

I like the long rests because I like the whole camp system, going around talking to people etc.

I was spamming spells to a point where I found it annoying but once I managed my resources better and levelled up a bit and got more spell slots, it became a non-issue

Had the same thought OP. Sadly its a core dnd thing. And ya, that alone is why this will never be div 3, in my eyes anyway.

Id rather be tested on my battle logic (without limits) then on my inventory management skills but hey thats just me. Its also kind of immersion breaking to me but w/e. Big troll in front of me but wait, hold on guys, lets setup camp cuz we need spell slots, like what….na

Theres some short rest mods and infinite spell slot mods on nexus, but sadly the game is not balanced around that happening so tact would probably then = easy

Most of us, yes.

It's not my favorite mechanic but learning how to manage it has been a welcomed challenge.

It's because DnD purists like it that way, because that's the way tabletop DnD works, and they don't care that it upsets the flow of a video game, because they want it to feel like they are playing a desktop game with CGI and not a video game.

It works like D&D works so I'm fine with it.
Sicho84 Aug 5, 2023 @ 3:08pm
its not even the first or only CPRG that has this

I love it, just explore more and you will have so many camping supplies you will be able to do long rests anytime you want. Also get events n chi chatter while doing long rest

My point is that you don't need to rest after every battle. If you are out of all your resources after one fight you are playing the game wrong.

I don't dislike it or like it so I'm fine with them changing it or leaving it how it is. I don't understand why it bothers people so much so I guess I lean toward them leaving it how it is to annoy those people.
