This game has some returning characters and references to BG1 and 2, but it's not a direct sequel. There's a lizard race called dragonborn. And yes the game has armor and helmets.

You don't need any prior knowledge to play this game, it is set in the world of Faerun, in the same general area as Baldurs Gate 1, but it doesn't carry on from the end of the stoyline of Baldurs Gate 2.

You can be lizardgirl (in 2 flavours, gith or dragonborn) There is cool armour and hats that you can dye different colours.

Armour slots are armour, legs, hands, and hat.

I've played 2 DnD sessions, and I've NEVER like tactical games before outside of FF tactics (sad, I know...). I bought it and played for about 45 minutes and I absolutely love it so far. You have way more options for "♥♥♥♥ around and find out" than I thought was possible. I feel like I have some freedom from the old games I've seen and wasn't interested in. I'm very much looking forward to playing solo AND with others.

Dark Urge is as close to a lizard as you'll get in this game.

You don't need to know anything about Dungeons & Dragons or Baldur's Gate I & II.

You just need to know and love the video game format of turn-based role-playing games.

If you are inexperienced with them, then it's a coin toss on whether or not you'll like the game.

You can look at the classes here:

And your lizard here:

No, you can play this one even if you have never played one before. You will probably catch some stuff only later, since you won't be expecting it.
Being completely new and never having watched YT about it, also adds the possibility of finding new stuff or solutions. Those who have watched it on YT will play like in the video, preventing new discoveries. It is not always bad to start something without having a clue.

I didn't play 1 or 2 and I don't even like 5E but this game is phenomenal.

My guess is not being familiar with DnD rulesets will create a steeper learning curve in this game, but I'm sure just watching a few YT vids on the topic will bring you up to speed in an hour or two. A lot of the creators covering BG3 have included instructions on how to get started with the game for people with no prior experience.

Buy the game. It is probably the best game i have ever played. Don't worry about playing the originals, to folks who are a bit younger they will be borderline unplayable.

Just play this game. You will not be sorry.
