Planecaster inactive

I talked to the inquisitor and he asks me to insert an artifact, but when I try to do it, the character says "inactive". I seen guy on youtube, plancaster glowed but in my case he just looks broken. WTF i should to do?

i solved it...... cant tell you how... the end is worth the struggle suffer on my friend it will be all the more amazing for it

I also have it saying INACTIVE when I use it. In my case, I went in fireballs blazing and murdered the inquisitor (i.e, I refused to give him the artifact) but it still gives me the quest marker

Same here not a clue what I'm supposed to do. I can't see anything in the room that would help and when I use the planecaster I get a "Can't use this right now" after killing everyone.

Can confirm the planecaster does work, I ran into the inactive issue too, loaded into an earlier save file, I'm not entirely sure which action got it working, but here's what I paid attention to


1. talk to the inquisitor as a whole party, with lazel in your team, and with your main character
(I had lazel walk in the creche alone thinking rest of the party member might make them hostile, but it's actually ok to bring the whole team)
2. talk to both the parasite healer and the commander before reaching inquisitor, also as a full party and with your main character not lazel as the talker.

Whole quest seems bugged. I killed them, the planecaster worked and i got the cutscene, and I tried to save before proceeding and then when the game finished saving I was randomly in combat against Lae'zel ... thought wtf and had to reload from before the battle with the inquisitor because I didnt want to kill her.

After reloading and doing the entire battle again, now the planecaster just doesnt work. I really dont want to have to do this battle a THIRD time in hopes it randomly works... any help would be appreciated if anyone knows a solution.

I'm having this issue, only...

I've killed the inquisitor and most other githyanki around. I've kept Lae'zel as a member. I talked to the doc, then the captain, then the inquisitor before killing him. I've also done a few other things so the idea of going back to a previous save is far from ideal.

Long story short the "solve" here doesn't help me. Anyone else run into this issue?

i have tried this, i have tried everything. i tried playing nice and reloading from the front of the dungeon, i have tried killing everyone unprovoked, i have tried hostile dialogue, no matter what i do after the inquisitor dies or finishes talking to me cause i give up the item the game breaks to where i cannot talk with ANYONE and i am virtually stuck My only options is to flat out just not do this quest at all which i find it extremely frustrating im locked out of a big story point

Stuck too. Everyone in the whole base is dead and I cant get the planecaster to activate. Probably a bug.

I Killed inquisitor and everybody afterward and I still can't trigger the plan caster cut scene and it says inactive, and in the mission dialogue it says talk to the inquisitor which I did before I killed him.

Looks like the only way is to reload a save and do the battle over again and hope it doesn't happens. This bug sucks lae'zels green ass but unfortunately nothing around it it seems. The game just came out of early access so some bugs probably still slipped through so it is forgivable, although very annoying.
