I had three oaths
Vengeance: basically slay the wicked (which I did)
Devotion: Loyalty (which I did, In the long run, protected my Kin)
and
Ancients: which I guess is protect existence or nature, this one definitely wasn't an issue.
the game assumes I broke my oath of vengeance or devotion because I sided with a villain dialogue option; It doesn't make much sense.
I could understand my Oath-breaker status after the entire quest-line was finished If I sided with the villain, but that was not the case.
also my payment is only 1000, but yea I ain't paying that.
cant even defend yourself as a paladin without breaking your oath. The sad thing is there are DMs that will do anything they can to find an excuse to break your paladins oath and take away your powers, seems Larian is of the same school of thought.
You don´t have three oaths, you chose one of them and get criteria to uphold. Check that little book in your inventory.
bottom line I didn't betray no body, and doing the right thing doesn't renew your oath, but money will.
Yep and Oathbraker is possibly also strongest of those subclasses. Im currently playing vengeance paladin and if I fall… so be it 🙂
You broke the Oath you chose at character creation, end of story.
You normally CANNOT recover your Oath in DnD unless your DM is extremely understanding. Larian did you a huge favor by allowing it for something as simple as 2000 gold.
Maybe they will add redemption quests eventually, but at least you have the option to go back if you want to.
Yep, because they are allowed to do ”anything” if it is way of their vengeage. I believe that how to break is to side with ”evil” or dont help to fight against it.
Also you have party members that can be used to trigger certain situations and do some dirty work.
