How often does Gale want to eat my magical items?

Does anyone know how often Gale wants magical artefacts? And weather it's linked to in games days or story progression?

And what happens if I just refuse to give them to him?

he stopped asking after the 3rd or 4th for me. dialogue option and the lil tooltip on eligible items both disappeared.

Ahh that seemed to do it, i did offer one at a time before but was confused as to why the window didn't auto close after that.

OMGBBQ!!! This needs to be stickied! I just keep giving him things thinking the window would close automatically when I gave enough. That is a serious UI blunder!
