Is it your CPU or GPU that's overheating? I would guess either the thermal paste in your laptop is too old and needs to be replaced or the game is using up all the resources it can to pump out as many frames as possible. What did you try capping the framerate to? Was it significantly lower than what you get uncapped? For example, running at 70fps and then capping to 60 isn't going to make much difference.
Whatever the case, your computer should automatically throttle somewhat when it gets too hot. In my case my graphics card will throttle at 84 degrees by default. Check whatever software handles your GPU and try setting the temp limit lower.

Thats normal temp for a laptop, no?
Nii nii nii Aug 5, 2023 @ 6:16am
this is a laptop ..... the only way to moderate your temps is too set up your fans to 100 % when you play this game.

laptop are not the best to play next gen games because they got heat problem all of them cause thay're small case ( lenovo , msi, acer , alienware all of us )
the other way it's to reduce the power of your GPU but 3050 4go..... not the best for playing

Sort of, when a laptop is new usually CPU temps are lower but over time they tend to get hotter unless you would manually make sure to clean it properly and replace thermal paste. But yeah, my laptop also reaches 98 degrees CPU temperature but that's fine. Unless I turn on turbo mode for my fans but it's too loud so I'll leave it as is.

I only use my turbo boost for fans if I notice that CPU goes into thermal throttling which would impact the performance in a game.

Problem is your laptop not the game, you can try to clean the fan + heat sink and if that's not enough replace the thermal paste (after 2-3 year 100% worth it, especially on laptops due to high heat and bare die it dries out faster) with a good thermal paste.

My ASUS laptop CPU got up to 85C and GPU 65C after several hours. CPU runs a bit hotter than I'd like, but it is a laptop.

try turning on DLSS if you didnt.
i play on ultra and that thing alone lowered my gpu usage from 95%+ to ~~60%

idk if that would help with cpu temps tho if thats your main problem

the laptop is 1 year old so i dont think i need to change the thermal paste yet? i dont want to open it up and lose the waranty, so gpu is 56 *c and has a usage around 38-40 % and cpu is 76-85 whit 8-12 % usage if i cap it on 30 fps all low and dlss off

Set fans to 100, at least correct the reaction curve.

Set cap globally.

Afterburner settings recommendation is right after

Use something like this which can help reducing temp by 10°C
https://www.coolermaster.com/de/de-de/catalog/coolers/notebook-cooler/notepal-xl/
Until you get your hands onto such, use some steady whatever, as laptop feets, to have at least 2cm space between your desk and laptop case - make sure it is steady and holds well.

thanks ill try setting the fans to 100 whit msi, i asked a friend who has a cooler to bring it over and see how much it will change, if it works well ill buy one myself , im also looking to find some compresed air can to blow it in the fan spaces so i try to at least blow the dust whitout opening the laptop

edit: afterburner dosent have a fan tab, tryed reinstaling it, googled it and seems my card restricts me from editing the fans, i couldnt find Performance tab in nvidia control pannel to try edit it from there from some google recomandations

Is your pc still alive? I just bought the game and my cpu is at 92-94C all the time even if the air is not hot. I am starting to think that those temps reported by msi afterburner are just "not real"
