Pixelated graphics
My game started out working fine, but by the time I had explored most of the beach and gathered 5 companions, the graphics started glitching out. Things became very... dotty, like the faces, grass, hair, strings on my lyre, all became very pixelated.

I have tried the following to fix it:
  • Launching with Direct X
  • Launching with Vulkan
  • Restarting the game
  • Restarting my computer
  • Repairing game files
  • Running the game in borderless windowed mode
  • Running the game in full screen mode
  • Changing model quality to all variants
  • Changing texture quality to all variants
  • Changing texture filtering to all variants
  • Changing anti-aliasing to all variants available (Don't have DLSS)
  • Changing subsurface scattering on/off

None of these options made any difference to what I was seeing.

While my specs aren't the best, they are higher than the minimum.
  • Intel i7 CPU
  • 32gig RAM
  • GeForce GTX 1080Ti with the latest drivers

Attached is a screenshot of the issue. If you look especially at my character's and Gale's faces it is very obvious, while still can be seen elsewhere. This also occurs in dialogue cut scenes as well.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this and what further tests I could try to fix it?

I noticed the same issue and I've got an RTX 3060. Not sure how to fix, although new game ready drivers have just dropped so maybe that'll fix it.

Isn't that what happens when you turn on dynamic resolution and set a too high target frame rate? The only way the game can maintain the frame rate you are enforcing is by lowering the effective resolution giving it a pixelated look.

I would check for that first.

The other possibility is if you have the game on an HD instead of a SSD you end up with low res textures being loaded until the texture streaming is able to catch up and load the higher res textures.

You have FSR on? Also setting anti-aliasing to anything other than TAA makes my game grainy.

I had the same thing and have found the issue at the core (I believe). In my case, for some reason, the anti-aliasing always get deactivated every time I boot the game. So obviously, I just always have to set it to TAA after every boot.

I don't know why the game doesn't register TAA into memory unlike the rest of the graphics settings.

So I upgraded my graphics card to a 3080Ti and so far the issue hasn't happened again. Which makes me think maybe a graphics driver issue? Not sure though

Your old GPU may have had a problem. Could've been artifacting. Was this the only game you had issues with?

Are you sure you aren't using geforce now

Initially the game looked like ♥♥♥♥ for me without DLSS or antialiasing, and very blurry with either of them (playing at 1080p). The solution I was given was to enable DSR cores, upscale to 2880x1620 and then use DLSS. This worked great for me.

I don't think the op has the same issue, but I think you do.

game looked fine up until full release for me, after that looks similar to op's, tried everything also

I just started having this issue today as well. Yesterday, game worked fine. Today, everything is pixelated as soon as I launch the game and none of my save files are present, can't even click the load option.

edit: just launched again, this time I got an error message having to do with the vulcan launcher option. I'm launching in Dx11, maybe there is just a vulcan issue in my case?

Yes it was. I've now completed the game with the new graphics card and the issue never occurred again so *shrug*

Nope, I hate it so it's never installed.
