Don't know what's causing disadvantage with Astarion

I'll have him hide, and then when i got to ranged sneak attack, his eyes turn red and he gets like a black aura and then he has disadvantage. I can't see any sort of debuff on him and he isn't wearing any gear that gives him disadvantage and he is proficient in everything he is equipped with.

kind of annoying to have a rogue that can't sneak attack. if you know please enlighten me

I believe Astarion's armor gives disadvantage on stealth. Or something like that.

He's a vampire, he has to feed once per long rest or he gets disadvantage, also if you havent replaced his armor that too gives him a -1 on his stealth checks.

Get rid of his padded armor for regular leather armor. Also see if you are too far away. The game will tell you what you are getting disadvantage from when you hover over the target

It was doing this even when he was "happy"

Game will tell you - when you look under the enemy health bar while evaluating the attack it'll say like disadvantage - darkness, disadvantage - equipment etc. If it's equipment then you probably equipped gloves, boots, helmet with medium or heavy armor tag. It only indicates in a small grey text at bottom of the tooltip.
