Rogue or Bard ?
I want to pass most of my skill checks in the game. I intend to play at story difficulty and don't care much for combat for now. I thought Rogue and Bard are best because of their skill proficiencies. Which one would be better?

that sounds boring dude. its way more fun to actually roleplay as an intimidating paladin or a deceptive bard or something

Bard is great for the first playthrough because meat and potatoes of the game is dialogues and environments. Bard is obviously a great character for talking to characters, and if you go with standard DEX as secondary stat you will also be decent at sleight of hand and similar things. With Bard you can be sort of meta, but have a solid if a bit predictable roleplay potential.

I am playing a Warlock level 2, then I multiclassed to Bard the rest of the levels. The classes have a lot in common.

Bard's main stat is CHA. Rogue's is DEX. If you want your main character to talk to people pick Bard.

College of Lore bard can get Fireball.
I have a game where I'm playing as a lawful neutral Dragonborn Bard so I could quite literally spit fire. It's fun as hell and since I'm leading my player group, it's fallen on me to do most of the talking so I'm able to pass a lot of dialogue checks.

Bard has more overall bonus but rogues get really powerful specific ones. If you want to do everything yourself Bard might be better, and as others have said, high Charisma is useful outside of combat too.

Though you do get Astarion very early, and he is a rogue.

+1

Bardlock is great fun.

Lore Bard (just be aware the extra proficiency they get at lv 3 are Intimidation, Arcana and Sleight of Hand rather than choosing your own extra 3 like in RAW).

Why would you confine yourself to alignment system which was scrapped specifically because it was unrepresentative to how real individuals view the world. What would lawful neutral even mean. It sounds like somebody with no personality, strong opinions on anything, or backbone to have any sort of moral compass. I'm just curious what's the thought process.

Rogue bard multiclassing also work nicely! If you want to figh… more rogue, if toy want to cast spells more rogue (or blade bard)
One level dip from warlock can also help. Not sure if there is hexblade option in this game… Have to check it out before that Warlock dip…

Because when my friends and I play, none of us are sober, so I choose dialog options that are easy to make jokes about. My character shows up, makes some normal ass observations and then I try to make a rap out of it in the voice chat, and that's about it. I was absolutely sloshed when I was playing it with them. Our campaign is more of us making stupid comments to laugh about than anything else.

Bard, particularly with dialogue skill checks which your MC will mostly be doing. All the other skills can be handled by switching party members at camp if needed.
