Seeing as you own KotoR, it's very much that. Just with a D&D setting and turn-based.

It's a CRPG. I assume you've got access to the internet? There's an explanation for that.

its like the worst ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game ever but the best ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game ever the moment you leave combat, ff has actual gameplay, while this is a dice roll slog fest of combat. the rpg and story is the butter of the game. if you're looking for something like FF this is not it
It's very much like Dungeons and Dragons. Turn-based with heavy RPG elements. have to balance a limited supply of items and uses of spells for certain classes.

Pointing out directions won't do harm.

All good. If you think of picking it up, be aware that it can be a game with a steep learning curve depending on the difficulty. Choices matter. How you react and treat different NPC's will matter and there's a lot of different ways to go about doing something. Also a game that you'd want to save often with and explore everywhere.

A rather slow tedious combat of placement and different advantage looking to get through the game at normal. A horrendrous map and navigation and interface. The stash from hell where 99 items are worthless and few worthy of your time or aquired in the time of need. It is a rather difficult game to jump in at if you are not familiar with the ruleset of D&D or previous gfames by Larian, they play the same, even though the names and numbers differ.
Still - despite all that negatively, this game is one of the better ones in its genré and it captivates a lot of fans with it's intricate stories and characters.
If you don't mind the tedious parts - you have a gem - you don't like the terdious things or simply hate it - watch gameplays on YouTube to see if something about it still looks like enticing.

So Final fantasy mixed with something like Skyrim/Witcher would that be a fair assumption to make?
Youtube Divinity Original Sin 2 - the system is more or less that. Its like Xcom but convuluted magic rules

It is in the Forgotten Realms universe, which is basically the grandfather of all other fantasy universes. It exist since 1967 if I'm not mistaken.
I'm still not sure if the creator, Ed Greenwood is actually Gandalf or Santa Claus, cause he looks like both.

From one look at these forums you would think it was a game about porn.
Not very nice for new comers to the game. Come here to talk and learn about the game and it's page after page of woke, sex, and pervy porn.
Time the mods cleaned it up I think.
