Infuriatingly dumb, but thats just dice based combat transposed onto a computer.
Armor class represents the chance of them avoiding or the attack deflecting on armor.
There are other stats that reduce the damage one takes.
This is one thing i hate about D&D game mechanics ...
(I dont like D&D in generell .... when i comes to p&p rpgs D&D feels just "bad" compared to almost every other system i know ... in germany D&D doesnt have a huge fanbase like in the US ... as far as i know ... World of Darkness, Shadowrun and the Black Eye(a German System) are all "bigger" than D&D when it comes to marketshare ... )
Anyway this does not stop me from loving BG3 for everything else ...
